  • Patent number: 11673015
Abstract: A running device and method of using the device are disclosed. The device may include a moveable material within an inner chamber of the running device's housing. In operation, a running device may be held in each hand and the runner may thrust both hands downward prior to landing and quickly bring the devices to a vertical stop after landing. Bringing the devices to a vertical stop may cause the moveable material to collide with the housing and increase the force exerted by the runner on the ground. A delay component may delay the peak force exerted by the material against the housing so that the translation of that force to the ground coincides with the peak force that the runner would have exerted against the ground in the absence of the devices.

Abstract: A coal-burning utility electrical power generation plant includes a mill provided by a rotary drum for pulverizing coal. The drum is rotational about an axis and has mill heads at distally opposite axial ends thereof. Each mill head has a cylindrical mill head extension extending axially, and a stationary cylindrical seal ring concentric with the mill head extension and defining an annular gap therebetween. A pair of axially spaced annular seals are provided between the mill head extension and the seal ring, and seal the annular gap therebetween to prevent leakage of coal dust through the annular gap. A spacer is provided between the seals and maintains the seals in axially spaced relation and prevents rolling movement of the seals into the annular interfaces between the spacer and the mill head extension and between the spacer and the seal ring as the mill head extension rotates relative to the seal ring, to prevent coal dust bypass, and leakage to atmosphere.

Abstract: In a nutating machine such as a high intensity comminution machine having a nutating drum (1), a support bearing is provided by pairs of rolling bearing surfaces (6 and 8, and 7 and 9). In order to reduce power requirements and wear, each pair of complementary contact paths traced out by the bearing surface pairs has an equal ratio of (a) the path length of the stationary bearing surface (8, 9) to (b) the path length of the nutating bearing surface (6, 7). In one embodiment, irrotational movement of the nutating element is achieved by having equal path lengths as between the stationary bearing surface and the nutating bearing surface in both pairs.

  • Patent number: 6000646
Abstract: A double barrel chamber for a media mill where the media mill is used to grind and disperse pigments for paint, coating, ink products, and other pigment-vehicle fluids, as well as grinding and dispersing other particulate matter. Centered in each barrel is a rotatable shaft. On each shaft are a number of horizontally spaced discs. The shafts are parallel and arranged such that the edges of the discs overlap to cause major impacting and mixing in the central portion of the chamber when the shafts are rotated in a common direction. Also disclosed is a coiled cooling water jacket system for cooling a chamber. The system allows 100%, or near 100%, recovery of cleaning solvent, limits potential damage to a pumping system and allows slurry feeding flexibility. A special bearing seal section is disclosed which allows use of a diaphragm pump.

  • Patent number: 5544818
Abstract: A horizontal mill for ultra-fine pulverization which has enhanced pulverization characteristics and reduced power consumption while suppressing damage or wear of pulverizing media. The pulverizing media (balls) are provided in a pulverizing chamber defined by a space between an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder which are rotated relative to each other. Large diameter pulverizing media are used and the rotational speed is kept at a low level, which is opposite to the conventional theory of using small diameter media and high rotational speeds. Since the rotational speed is low, the corresponding wear of the pulverizing media is reduced. The degradation in pulverizing performance due to the low rotational speed may be recovered by using large diameter pulverizing media. Also, the dimensional ratio between the inner and outer cylinders, the interval between the inner and outer sleeves, and the axial interval between agitating vanes are suitably selected to enhance the mill performance.
