    Abstract: As-mined oil sand is crushed to −5 inch by a sequentially arranged pair of double roll crushers. The crushed oil sand is fed into a hopper feeding a jet pump. Water or recycled slurry is fed under pressure as motive fluid to the jet pump. The motive fluid jet(s) produced internally by the jet pump are operative to fluidize the oil sand and the components of the slurry mix turbulently in the jet pump's tubular mixer. It is found that the slurry issuing from the jet pump is aerated and largely free of lumps.

During a granulating step, the air supply device 21 stops to supply the dry air 22 and waits at an upper position H. After the granulation processing, the air supply device is lowered at a lower position L and supplies the dry air 22 onto the rotating disk 5 to dry granulated substances.

This product is then easily separable from other constituents of MSW, such as glass, aluminum and other metals, and plastics. The recyclables are recovered and sold in the market. The waste water from the process is reduced by processing through a water vamping apparatus.

    Abstract: A process is disclosed that is utilized in particular in the preparation of fibrous material of used paper. Hot fibrous pulp friable materials, which are especially suitable for dispersing, are first formed in a compact, high-consistency fibrous material in the form of a plug. In a preferred embodiment, the plug of materials is pushed against a rotor that is equipped with pulverization elements. The pulverization elements remove the fibrous pulp friable materials and distribute them in a disintegrated condition in a processing chamber. In the processing chamber, super-heated vapor is supplied via vapor supply lines, which calefies the fibrous pulp friable materials, for example, by condensation.

Modifications include plural-turn spiral, straight, and truncated spiral grooving (FIGS. 5 to 10), and batch mixing in which only one disc (28) rotates (FIG. 11). Continuous mixing involving shear is carried out within a cylindrical barrel (40 FIG. 12;57 FIG. 13) between its internal helical-grooving (43;590 and the helical grooving (44;60), of opposite hand, of a rotor (41;58). The shearing can produce mechanochemical reactions that break down the molecular structure of the material, notably in the context of mastication and solubilising of used rubber in reclaim from vehicle-tyres.
