  • Patent number: 4679742
Abstract: A crusher, for example for rock or the like, has crushing jaws which are driven to swing towards and away from each other and are pivoted to a frame adjacent the ends of the jaws, so that most of the jaw movement is in a horizontal direction and is therefore a substantially balanced assembly.

  • Patent number: 4603816
Abstract: An apparatus for shredding waste material includes first and second cooperating shredding rotors rotatably mounted adjacent to one another in a shredding chamber. Each rotor includes a series of axially spaced toothed ripper blades removably mounted on a shaft and positioned so that the blades of one rotor interleave with the blades of the other rotor. The blades are arranged in a stacked assembly which may be removed as a unit for repair or replacement without removing the rotor shaft. A crank drive arrangement develops relative rotational oscillatory bi-directional motion between the rotors to shred material fed therebetween. The rotors are oscillated out of phase with one another so that their teeth are continuously moving at different relative angular velocities with respect to one another.

  • Patent number: 4512524
Abstract: A crusher for concrete structures, having a head carried by a traveling carrier, a rotating base supported by the head concentrically therewith for rotation relative thereto, a pair of hydraulic cylinders pivotally supported at ends by the rotating base and symmetrically disposed, a pair of jaw members pivotally supported by the rotating base and symmetrically disposed, and click-stop means provided between the head and the rotating base, the hydraulic cylinders being drivingly coupled to the respective jaw members. The rotating base and the head are coupled to each other by a rotative coupling arrangement comprising first and second disc members disposed in face-to-face engagement with each other, synthetic resin-made bearing members, and stopper means for preventing disengagement of the second disc member from the first disc member.

  • Patent number: 4418872
Abstract: A feeder/crusher machine for use in underground coal or ore mines for receiving and crushing mined material and feeding the crushed product to a stationary conveyor in the mine material transport system. It comprises a tramming unit supporting a feeding and crushing unit having an elongated body with a crushing section located intermediate receiving and discharge sections at opposite ends of the body. A conveyor has an upper, carrying run movable through the crushing section in a horizontal plane. A pair of breaker drums are mounted immediately above the conveyor in the crushing section and are rotatable about transversely spaced, parallel vertical axes. Because the breaker drums are rotatable about vertical axes, teeth on their peripheries move horizontally, parallel to the plane of the conveyor carrying run. Further, the teeth move in the same direction as the conveyor at the location between the drums where crushing occurs.

  • Patent number: 4406412
Abstract: A jaw crusher for bulky waste and like matter, comprising two groups of jaws or shanks movable towards and away from each other, the jaws or shanks within each group being spaced at an interval corresponding to the width of the jaws or shanks of the opposite group. The jaws or shanks of one group are adapted, as they move towards the other group, to travel at least partly into the interspaces between the jaws or shanks of the opposite group, and include driving units actuating at least one group of jaws or shanks in order to move them towards the opposite group. At least one of the jaws included in at least one group of jaws is movable relative to the remaining jaws of the same group, the jaws are individually movable by individually actuable driving units, and the driving units are provided with sensors for sensing exerted power and actuating a programmable central unit which controls the relative position of the jaws so that it will vary during the cutting-up operation.

  • Patent number: 4387859
Abstract: A crusher for reducing the size of pieces of rock, concrete and the like is disclosed. A pair of resonant beams are suspended at their upper nodes from the upper end of a frame. The beams are driven by an oscillatory driver which engages the beams near their anti-nodes. A pair of opposed jaws are mounted at the lower ends of the beams and their mutual, reciprocal action applies compressive forces to material fed therebetween which causes the material to break apart. The jaws may be moved apart by a pair of hydraulic cylinders to allow adjustment of the material size discharged from the crusher. The hydraulic system actuating the cylinders is especially adapted to absorb shock imparted by the reactive forces of the jaws against the material being crushed.

  • Patent number: 4373674
Abstract: A rock and ore pulverizer or crusher device having a generally cylindrical elongate mortar defining a crushing chamber. The mortar is rockable or oscillable by means of a cradle which is driven through an eccentric drive apparatus. A generally cylindrical elongate pestle is secured within the mortar and independently retained therein by a flexible cable and swivel arrangement. The head end of the pestle is preferably tapered and provided with grooves to retain the material fed into the device. The entire device is installed at a desired inclination and material is introduced into a feed trough ahead of the pestle to be crushed as the material moves along the pestle and relative motion is imparted between.

  • Patent number: 4278209
Abstract: Apparatus for reconditioning bagged material comprises a frame and opposed spaced front and back breaker plates mounted on the frame. The front breaker plate is pivotally mounted on the frame along either the top or bottom edge and the back breaker plate is pivotally mounted on the frame along the opposite of the top and bottom edge. An eccentric arrangement engages the free edges of the breaker plates for moving the free edges of each breaker plate toward and away from the other breaker plate. A first pair of crushing plates and a second pair of crushing plates are selectively mountable on the apparatus by a detachable coupling means for mounting either the first pair or the second pair on the eccentric for supporting the crushing plates at opposed spaced locations generally at right angles to the breaker plates to define a rectangular receiving space for receiving the bags, and also for moving the crushing plates of the mounted pair in circular paths in opposite directions toward and away from each other.

  • Patent number: 4275850
Abstract: A grinding apparatus having two mulling plates disposed horizontally in superposed relation is provided. The lower mulling plate is connected to suitable drive means for rotating the plate (the direction of rotation is reversed intermittently). The upper mulling plate is eccentrically connected to a support structure and is provided with a guide pin connected at one end to the plate and which extends at the other end through a slot in the support structure. In operation, the lower mulling plate upon rotation effects movement of the upper mulling plate about its eccentric axes, but the extent of travel of the upper mulling plate is controlled or limited by the guide pin which contacts one end or the other of the slot in the support member. The apparatus is useful for grinding pigment and paint.

  • Patent number: 4196862
Abstract: Apparatus for crushing building materials such as concrete blocks with a uniform pressure. Crushing jaws are separately pivotably attached to side support plates in a disclosed manner so that no shock forces produced during crushing are transmitted to a supporting boom. Water is sprayed on an object as it is crushed to prevent the spread of dust produced during crushing into the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4026481
Abstract: A compressing device which may be utilized for such purposes as crushing rock or compacting material, has a pair of oppositely positioned jaws. Each jaw has a plurality of longitudinal bars attached thereto, which bars are resonant in a gyratory lateral mode, these bars being spaced from each other along the material flow path extent of their associated jaws. Means are provided to resonantly vibrate each of the jaws in a gyratory vibration mode with the bars for each jaw vibrating in a manner such as to cause a unified jaw vibration. In the preferred embodiment, the resonant bars are hollow with the oscillator means for each bar comprising a plurality of eccentric weights attached to the ends of the bars and mounted for rotation on an axis parallel to the axis of the bar.
