Abstract: A machine for quenching, crushing and feeding material that includes a continuous loop drag chain conveyor. A first portion of the conveyor travels through a quenching tank and a second portion travels beneath the tank's bottom wall. Large blocks of hot material are dropped onto the conveyor inside the tank. A rotary crusher is positioned to crush the cooled blocks into sized pieces as they exit the tank. The sized pieces drop through an opening in the conveyor's frame and onto the second portion of the conveyor. The pieces dewater on the second portion of the conveyor and drop through a discharge opening and into a removal device for transfer to a remote location for further processing.

In accordance with this method, substantially no gas contained in the heat insulator is diffused at the time of cutting the heat-insulating housing, and the gas can be collected at a high concentration because it is collected by being allowed to leak out at the time of compressing. Furthermore, by using the compression rollers, closed-cells in the heat insulator can be crushed easily, thereby collecting the gas completely and reliably. • Patent number: 6899294
Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating the organic membrane portion of waste egg shells from the hard inorganic mineral portion thereof, so that each can be used or further processed as desired, thereby addressing the environmental and economic issues associated with disposing of waste egg shells. The membrane and shell are separated by first processing waste eggshells so as to yield small waste eggshell particles. During this processing, the waste eggshell particles are at least slightly abraded, whereby the linking structure between the membrane and shell is at least partially disrupted. Thereafter, the waste eggshell particles are conveyed to a device, which isolates the two components based on their size and weight differences. The methods listed above can provide products from the eggshell waste including precipitated calcium carbonate, membrane, protein, amino acids, collagen and other important components.

  • Patent number: 6811655
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and an equipment for combining in one single apparatus, the functions for filtering, decontaminating, and thickening paper pulp from used paper, while providing the complementary function of clarifying the filtrates. The apparatus (1) rotates at high speed. The paper pulp is introduced through the center of the apparatus (2) and driven at its angular speed. The pulp is then brought along a grate (6) with small size holes for separating the fibers from the greater part of the water. The thickened pulp is evacuated through extraction nozzles (8). The water is clarified in the clarification zone (12) and recycled or eliminated depending on uses. More complete embodiments of the apparatus include the functions of fractionating, de-inking and purifying the pulp with slots or holes.

Abstract: Method of, and apparatus for, treating concrete blocks (10) in order to carry out an artificial aging process. For the mechanical treatment of the concrete blocks (10), the latter are positioned in a desired formation on a table top (14). Treatment bodies (17) are moved over the top side of the concrete blocks (10) with the table top (14) inclined. In this case, the concrete blocks (10) are arranged obliquely relative to one another, with the result that projecting edges and corners are partially removed.

Abstract: Frangible objects that become packed in large containers are removed by crushing the objects while they are still in the containers. A motor-driven crushing assembly is lowered into the container, where rotating strikers come into contact with the frangible objects and break the objects into smaller fragments. The broken fragments are guided into a guiding chute, from which they may be removed by conventional industrial vacuum equipment. The invention may be used for unloading ceramic packing from acid towers.

  • Patent number: 6680110
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of reducing particle size by the use of a supercritical gas, such as carbon dioxide or a refrigerant. The material is swollen by the supercritical gas at a high pressure. After the material has been allowed to swell under a high pressure, the pressure is rapidly dropped. When the external pressure is rapidly dropped, the material explodes as the supercritical gas absorbed into the material rapidly expands outward.

The surrounding of the foam inlet is shaped to correspond to the internal dimensions or surface structure of an aircraft fuselage or other aerospace structure. Because the surrounding of the foam inlet corresponds to the shape of the insulated structure, the containment apparatus may be mated with the portion of the structure having the insulation removed or captured. The vacuum port of the apparatus is connectable to a vacuum source, and the apparatus is utilized to suction particulate foam material from the insulated structure.

  • Patent number: 6634578
Abstract: A mechanical system that separates bundles of paper and presents the separated paper on a conveyor in a single layer fashion, for further processing. The paper is accumulated in a hopper and fed into the mechanical separating mechanism in a batch mode. When sufficient volume has been admitted to the container, the inflow port is closed and the mechanical separating impeller are activated to rotate in the same direction, imparting bidirectional forces on compacted bundles of sheets or shreds, causing them to deaggregate. Upon completion of the separation cycle, the separated sheets are expelled through an outlet port and conveyed to a drop chute for further singulation, from which the singulated sheets may be deposited onto one or more conveyor belts for sorting.
