    Abstract: A filter assembly for filtering a wash fluid to be circulated by a circulation pump in a dishwasher appliance includes a discharge blade defining lateral, transverse and vertical directions. The discharge blade includes a blade hub and a pair of opposing blades, and each of the opposing blades extend outward from the blade hub to a blade tip along the lateral direction. Further, each opposing blade may include a leading edge, a trailing edge, a top surface, and a bottom surface. The trailing edge of at least one opposing blade may be spaced apart from the leading edge along both the transverse and vertical directions, and may define a curve extending between the blade hub and blade tip along the lateral direction. Still further, the top surface of the at least one opposing blade may define a slope between the leading edge and the trailing edge along the transverse direction.

    Abstract: A dishwasher controlled garbage disposal system that momentarily activates the garbage disposal upon activation of the dishwasher to clear the dishwasher's drain route through the garbage disposal. A signal detection and transmission device functionally attached to the dishwasher detects activation of the dishwasher's water pump and sends a signal to a wall mounted control module which activates a pre-operational warning timer. This timer activates for a short time a pre-activation yellow warning light and a fluctuating warning sound. When the warning timer deactivates, a disposal timer activates for a short time a red warning light, a constantly sounding warning sound, and a relay which activates the garbage disposal. A single shot latching relay within the signal detection and transmission device is activated when the dishwasher is initially turned on to prevent the control box from activating more than once during a given wash cycle of the dishwasher.

    Abstract: A dishwasher includes a pump assembly which functions to chop all fluid entrained soil prior to directing fluid to upper and lower wash anms. A flow conduit leading to the upper wash arm is provided with a sampling port which directs a percentage of the fluid flow into a filter chamber having one or more fine mesh filter screens that open into the dishwasher tub basin. The filter chamber is exposed to a collection chamber that leads to a flapper valve and then to a drain port. An overflow tube, which is in fluid communication with the filter chamber, extends upwardly within the dishwasher. When the fine mesh filter becomes clogged, fluid will be forced to flow up the overflow tube and be exposed to another filter. A filter guard is secured to a housing of the recirculation pump over portions of the fine mesh filter.
