Abstract: A take-up reel for use in a tape drive for minimizing print through errors, or data transfer from one layer of tape on the take-up reel to an adjacent layer of tape on the take-up reel. The take-up reel is configured to allowing portions of the buckle, coupling the take-up leader to the supply leader, to recess into the take-up reel. The relatively even and concentric configuration of leaders tape and buckle when wound onto the take-up reel prevents the application of significant non-uniform pressure to the data tape wound thereover, which reduces print through sources of data error.

Abstract: A supply magazine contains a recording paper roll constituted by continuous thermosensitive recording paper wound in a roll form. The recording paper is fed-by a supply roller. In the supply magazine, a magazine body receives the recording paper roll. A magazine lid closes the magazine body openably. Two retention levers are shiftable between retaining and releasing positions, press an outermost turn of the recording paper roll to the supply roller when in the retaining position, and release the recording paper roll from the supply roller when in the releasing position. A combination of two linking plates has first and second ends. The first end is connected with the magazine lid. The second end is connected with each of the retention levers. The linking plates shift each retention lever from the releasing position to the retaining position in response to closing of the magazine lid.
Abstract: A rotational load applying mechanism for a tape recorder having a rotation transmission gear for rotating a reel base in engagement with a gear of the reel base, causing a rotary shaft of the rotation transmission gear to move with operational force acquired by a rotational load of the rotation transmission gear, comprises a rotary arm member made of plastic and rotatable together with the rotary shaft of the rotation transmission gear; and an elastic holder, formed on the arm member, for holding, with a pressure, an outer surface of a boss to be a bearing for the rotary shaft of the rotation transmission gear, thereby applying the rotational load to the rotation transmission gear.
Abstract: A tape player is provided to simplify a mechanical part, eliminate parts, and provide efficient assembly of the mechanical part and a more compact apparatus. The tape player includes pins respectively moving in four different grooves provided in one disk-like cam, and a lever in conjunction with the movement of the pins to use movement of the lever so as to perform a cassette tape carry in/out operation, a head base moving operation, a playback running direction switching operation, and a selective operation to transfer driving force to a reel rest during fast forward. A half blanking is provided for a periphery of a hole portion in the main base to prevent a gear portion of a reel rest from contacting the main base.
Abstract: A windup reel is formed at a step reel which has a small diameter section and a large diameter section. The large diameter section is formed in such a direction as to press a lower edge of photographic film against a guide pin. When a leader section of transported photographic film is wound on the windup reel, the leader section tries to fit the surface of the large diameter section. For this reason, the force is applied to the photographic film so that the photographic film can move toward the large diameter section. The photographic film moves toward the guide pin, and the edge of the photographic film is pressed against the guide pin. Thereby, the photographic film is transported along the guide pin.
Abstract: A low profile mechanism for biased driving of driven roller in tape cartridge includes a rotor-on-the-outside motor placed on a reciprocating base plate and moved by the base plate to engage a drive roller with a predefined control force. The drive roller is translatable such that it conveys all or part of the control force to the driven roller of a supplied tape cartridge.

Both the reel spindles (31, 32, 39, 40) and the reel discs (33, 34, 41, 42) are axially movable and, when a magnetic-tape cassette (15, 16) is loaded into the apparatus (1) in its operating position, the reel spindles (39, 40, 31, 32) and the reel discs (41, 42, 33, 34) which are not adapted to enter into driving engagement with the inserted magnetic-tape cassette (15, 16) are moved into an area situated outside the area occupied by the inserted magnetic-tape cassette (15, 16).
Abstract: In a reel of a tape player for recording/reproducing information on/from a tape, a rotating reel is installed on a top of a main shaft which is placed on a plate of a deck. A reel spindle has a through cylindrical rod into which the main shaft is to be inserted and an accommodating portion. The accommodating portion has a first circular plate formed to be extended radially from bottom of the hollow cylindrical rod to the outside, and a first side wall formed to be bent upwardly from a circular edge of the first circular plate. A plurality of first ribs are upwardly projected and arranged in radial direction on upper surface of accommodating portion. The through cylindrical rod of the reel spindle is inserted into a through hole of a reel gear. The reel gear is placed on the accommodating portion of the reel spindle. A plurality of second ribs downwardly projected and arranged in radial direction on bottom surface of the reel gear.
Abstract: A torque limiting device for a reel turntable can obtain a stable limiting torque even when an ambient temperature or speed is changed and also can prevent a tape from being damaged when a tape path is fluctuated. First and second magnets are disposed in such an opposing relation as to sandwich therebetween a magnetic plate of a limiting gear from both surfaces thereof and magnetic poles are magnetized on the opposing surfaces of the two magnets which repulse one another.
Abstract: In a tape drive system, a cassette comprises a pair of spaced apart flangeless hubs and an access opening between the hubs. Each hub is provided with a cap of magnetically attractive material. Each hub receives a rotatable spindle which has a magnetic portion at its upper end. There are abutting surfaces on each hub and spindle which act as registration surfaces to provide a contiguous but non engaging relationship between the spindle magnetic portion and the hub cap of magnetically attractive material. The magnetic attraction between the magnetic portion of each spindle and its respective hub is the sole force urging each hub into engagement with its respective spindle. The abutting registration surfaces are located on each spindle relative to the bottom wall of the cassette so as to suspend its respective hub between the housing top and bottom walls.

Abstract: An apparatus for coupling which includes first and second shafts, each having an axis. The axes are disposed in generally coaxial relationship. The apparatus includes coupling having first and second members for coupling the first shaft to the second shaft to allow transmission of rotational movement from one of said shafts to the other of said shafts upon rotation of the one shaft. The first and second members have a configuration which allows transmission of rotational movement from one shaft to the other shaft in a first direction of rotational movement and not allowing transmission of rotational movement from one shaft to another shaft in a second direction of rotational movement. The first member is mounted on the first shaft so as to allow movement on the first shaft in a direction that is perpendicular to the axis of the first shaft.

Abstract: A driving power transmission system has a rotary base supported for rotation as one with a driving shaft rotated in forward and reverse directions at controlled rotational velocities and a driving power transmitting member rotatably supported by the driving shaft. The rotary base and driving power transmitting member are interconnected by an elastic connecting member. A rotational position control member is provided for controlling the rotational position of the driving power transmitting member with respect to the rotary base. During constant speed rotation, the driving power transmission system transmits the rotational driving power of the driving shaft through the elastic connecting member to the driving power transmitting member to prevent torque ripples produced in the driving shaft from being transmitted to a driven unit.
Abstract: A film spool comprises a spool core provided with a coaxial opening adapted to receive a rotational driver rotatable alternatively in film winding and unwinding directions to similarly rotate the spool core. The spool core includes first and second torque transmission devices. The first torque transmission devices projects into the core opening to be located in the way of the rotational driver, when the driver is rotated inside the core opening in the film unwinding direction, for making the driver rotate the spool core in the film unwinding direction responsive to the driver applying an unwinding turning force to the first torque transmission devices, and is capable of being deformed out of the way of the driver, when the unwinding turning force the driver applies to the first torque transmission devices exceeds a maximum force greater than required to rotate the spool core in the film unwinding direction, for allowing the driver to freely rotate inside the core opening in the film unwinding direction.
