Coil Engaging Drive (i.e., Peripheral Drive) Patents (Class 242/474.6)
  • Patent number: 10759089
Abstract: Recycling devices for producing additive manufacturing filament from received materials including objects to be recycled, discarded objects, obsolete objects, and the like. A recycling device may include a material processing system an extrusion mechanism and a spooling assembly. The material processing system receives material, reduces the size of the received material via a material size reducer and actively pushes the material through at least a portion of the device. The extrusion mechanism produces filament from the material and the spooling assembly loads the filament onto a spool for later use. The spooling assembly may include detachable elements configured to interface with and supply filament to an additive manufacturing device. Depending on configuration, recycling devices may create filament from plastic, metal, in-situ material, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 10472740
Abstract: A method and associated textile machine are provided to produce a roving having a protective twist from a fiber bundle fed to a consolidating means. The produced roving is wound with a winding device onto a tube arranged at a winding position. After the wound tube has been fully or partially wound with the roving, a tube change is initiated. During the tube change, the wound tube is removed from the winding position and an empty tube is moved into the winding position. During the tube change, the roving is wound onto the wound tube at least until the roving comes into contact with the empty tube as a result of the tube change such that the production of the roving is not interrupted during the tube change. During the tube change, the roving is wound onto the wound tube in a region that lies outside a region last wound prior to the tube change.

  • Patent number: 9908740
Abstract: The present invention is a part of a yarn transfer system used for transferring yarn from a full bobbin to an empty bobbin typically fitted on a winder frame. The invention broadly comprises a yarn traverse device used in transferring a continuously arriving yarn onto an empty bobbin for commencing of winding process during bobbin changeover process in automatic turret winder without any stoppage. This is achieved with the provision of an actuation device that facilitates axial movement of the yarn traverse device. In the present invention, during the bobbin changeover operation, the yarn traverse device is moved axially through the actuation device and allows the traverse guide—while maintaining its normal traverse speed at all times—to move beyond the normal yarn winding zone such that the advancing yarn is within the reach of the yarn grasping device of the ready-to-be-wound empty bobbin. After the yarn transfer is completed, the traverse device moves back to the normal winding zone.

  • Patent number: 9315358
Abstract: A spun yarn winding device includes a machine body; a turret; a feeding roller that is fixed to the machine body, is not in contact with winding bobbins, and feeds yarns to the winding bobbins at a speed equal to or faster than a winding speed; a traverse device fixed at an upstream side of an advance direction of the yarns relative to the feeding roller and which traverses the yarns; a peripheral speed detection unit that detects a peripheral speed of the winding bobbins; and a control unit that is arranged and programmed to perform a basic operation to maintain a free length of the yarns at a standard length by controlling a rotational angle of a turret during a yarn winding period, the free length of the yarns being located between the feeding roller and the winding bobbins.

  • Publication number: 20100108797
Abstract: A winding machine having a user-defined pitch between rotation of a form and translation of a point of winding material along the form, reduces damaging accelerative forces on the machine components by a slight modulation of the pitch near travel-reversal of the point of winding. The pitch of the windings over most of the form is unaffected and rotational speed of the form need not be modified.

  • Patent number: 6343763
Abstract: An apparatus for winding tape includes a cantilevered support arm for supporting in a winding position a core onto which the tape is to be wound with a surface drive roller pivotal to a position engaging the outside of the package for causing rotation of the package in the driving position about a longitudinal axis of the arm. A lay-on roller directs the tape on to the core such that the rotation of the core acts to wind the tape into the package. The lay-on roller is driven by a lead screw in movement longitudinally of the axis to form a generally cylindrical package structure of the tape. With the lay-on roller in a retracted position to one side, the finished package on the support arm is moved by a rotatable drive head rotating about a vertical axis from the winding position away from the drive roller to a doffing position and simultaneously an empty core is moved from the doffing position over the drive roller to the winding position.
