  • Publication number: 20130277491
Abstract: A mandrel cupping assembly for releaseably engaging the unsupported ends of a plurality of mandrels supported on a web winding turret assembly is disclosed. Each of the mandrels is driven in a closed mandrel path about a web winding turret assembly axis. The mandrel cupping assembly has a cupping arm turret with a cupping arm turret central axis, a cupping arm cooperatively associated with each mandrel of the plurality of mandrels, and a first actuator for disposing the cupping arm from a hold-open position to a hold-closed position. Each of the cupping arms is disposed radially about the cupping arm turret and is carried in a radial orbital path about the cupping arm turret central axis while disposed in either of the hold-open position or the hold-closed position.

  • Publication number: 20130206894
Abstract: A core tube holding device comprising: a plurality of out-pushing members that are arranged side by side spaced apart in the axial direction, each having a pressing part; a connecting member for connecting the plurality of out-pushing members; a holding member that has at every position in the axial direction a pressed part corresponding to the pressing part, and that is disposed radially outward with respect to the plurality of out-pushing members; and an action unit adapted to exert a force for moving, to one side in the axial direction, a one end out-pushing member which, among the plurality of out-pushing members, is at an end on the one side; wherein: at least one from among the pressing parts and the pressed parts is formed in a tapered shape that spreads radially outward from the one side to the other side in the axial direction, and when the force for moving the one end out-pushing member acts thereon via the action unit, the one end out-pushing member moves to the one side while also pulling the othe

  • Patent number: 7922114
Abstract: A winder in which the jaws of the mandrel expand automatically by the weight of the reel, without introducing external energy. The winder has a mandrel of horizontal axis (A) whose jaws are expandable by means of links hinged to the end of a sliding pull rod and connected to the frame by a hinged connecting rod. The winder includes a rocker connected to the frame by a fixed pivot axis (D) and to the mandrel by the physical embodiment of the axis of rotation (A), the two axes (D, A) are parallel. The rocker moves the mandrel vertically between a raised loading position and a lowered use position under the weight of a reel and it brings about, simultaneously, sliding of the pull rod, automatic expansion of the jaws, and automatic clamping of the reel.

  • Patent number: 7481392
Abstract: A core adapter formed as a hollow cylindrical sleeve. A plurality of radial apertures are formed in the sleeve. Each radial aperture is perpendicular to the sleeve's axis. Studs are provided in each radial aperture, initially recessed beneath the sleeve's outer surface. The sleeve's outside diameter is sized for insertion into a 6-inch inside diameter core. The sleeve's inside diameter is the same size as a 3-inch inside diameter core. The adapter is inserted into a 6-inch core until it is flush with the end of the core. Wedge-tipped bars are driven beneath each of the adapter's longitudinally aligned rows of studs, against the bottom of each stud, thereby driving the studs perpendicularly away from the sleeve's axis into the core.

  • Patent number: 6164587
Abstract: A drive device for rotating a hollow element (31) comprises at least three pads (32) movable between a first position where the hollow element (31) can be threaded onto the device (30) and a second position where each pad (32) is moved radially in relation to an axis of rotation of the device (30). The device (30) further comprises a mechanism (33) for actuating the pads (32) in such a way that when a hollow element (31) is on the device (30), each pad (32) is at an approximately equal distance from the axis of rotation of the device (30).
