The cable drum has a part for compensating the cable slackness which can be moved in relation to the outer cable drum wall and is disposed in a guide inside the cable drum. The part may be connected with one cable end of the cable loop, and that when a load is placed on the cable drum by the cable, the part is arrested on the cable drum. When the cable drum is unloaded, a spring urges the part so as to take up cable slackness.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 1997Date of Patent: January 12, 1999Assignee: Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH & Co. Patent number: 5803400Abstract: A thread reel, with a thread wound thereon, has a holding pin at its periphery upon which the end of the thread is secured such that a plurality of loops are laid around the holding pin in such a way that in each case the end of each loop, respectively, facing the thread reel simultaneously forms the start of the next loop which is further spaced from the thread reel, with the end of the next loop remote from the preceding loop lying closer to the thread reel than the end to which it is connected.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1996Date of Patent: September 8, 1998Assignee: Takata (Europe) Vehicle Safety Technology GmbHInventors: Robert Kopetzky, Frank Mueller, Ulrich Diepold, Sabine Dreizler, Frank Pietschmann, Matthias Pleyer

Patent number: 5664766Abstract: A winch drum having a cable wrapped around a cylindrical surface of the drum and clamped to one end plate of the drum is modified by the addition of a member which inhibits reverse winding of the cable onto the drum. The member is attached to the clamped end of the cable and includes a tubular portion which is arcuate so as to follow the curvature of the cylindrical surface of the drum with a part cylindrical plate portion which projects outwardly to one side of the cable so as to lie flat against the cylindrical surface of the drum. When the cable is paid out to the maximum position, the member leaves the drum and impacts the frame of the winch to prevent or inhibit continued rotation of the drum in the payout direction which would otherwise cause winding of the cable in the reverse direction. The device for preventing reverse winding is particularly useful in winches which include a safety brake to restrict and control payout of the cable.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 1996Date of Patent: September 9, 1997Assignee: Unique Concepts Ltd.Inventor: Morris Baziuk

Patent number: 5570564Abstract: A stretch wrap dispenser includes a support for a roll of stretch wrap packaging material and a core which permits the roll to rotate. The support has an indexing portion with an outer radial area for contacting and indexing one axial end of the stretch wrap packaging material at a predetermined axial position. It also has an inner radial area for permitting any portion of the core that extends beyond the one axial end of the stretch wrap packaging material to extend beyond the predetermined axial position. Relative rotation is provided between dispenser and the load to wrap the stretched sheet around the load.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1994Date of Patent: November 5, 1996Assignee: Lantech, Inc.Inventors: Phil Moore, Patrick R. Patent number: 5385315Abstract: A novel system is provided for attaching tape to a spool. The method employs a one piece molded or diecast part which comprises both the spool and the means of attachment. The spool has a cavity within the circular core. A pin is molded as a part of the spool and is positioned directly before the mouth of the cavity. Tape attachment is achieved by threading.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1993Date of Patent: January 31, 1995Assignee: General Clutch CorporationInventors: Edward T. Rude, Robert L. Mozdzer

Patent number: 5346153Abstract: A winch strap anchor for securing the strap of a winch to the winch drum proximate the hub to maintain a low profile and eliminate crank force irregularities. The anchor is secured to the walls of the drum and is configured to lie against the winch hub thereby minimizing the eccentric winding of the strap onto the winch. The anchor includes a longitudinal slot for receiving the strap to secure the strap to the anchor. The anchor with the strap attached can be manually attached to the winch drum securing the strap.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1993Date of Patent: September 13, 1994Assignee: Fulton Performance Products, Inc.Inventor: Edward W.
