Patent number: 4714226Abstract: A swivel housing (22) at the lower end of a davit (10) is introduced into an open side of a socket (20). The socket (20) is mobile and it includes hook members (136, 140) at its lower end which fit through openings (60, 62) in a base member (18) which is incorporated into a rooftop (12). The socket (20) is then slid sideways to place the hook members (136, 140) below hook engaging portions (90, 94 or 92, 96) of a top wall (56) of the base member (18). Then, a filler member (146) is inserted into a portion of the opening (60, 62) which is vacated by the sideways shifting of the socket (20), to block unwanted sideways shifting of the socket (20) in opposite direction. The swivel housing (22) at the lower end of the davit (10) is inserted into the open side of the socket (20) while the davit is in a horizontal position. Then, a pivot pin (188) is inserted and the davit (10) is swung upwardly about the pivot pin (188). Then, a lock pin (196) is inserted to lock the davit (10) in an upright position.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1986Date of Patent: December 22, 1987Assignee: Spider Staging, Inc.Inventor: Stephen E. Patent number: 4695030Abstract: A quick release clamp for securing components having a recessed base to a support having spaced internally threaded bores, said clamp having a body portion, a head portion at the top thereof and an outwardly extending lip adjacent the bottom of said clamp for engaging the component recess. A central bore in the body and head portion carries a resilient insert which is slidable therein. An elongated screw is threaded through the insert and receivable in one of the internally threaded bores. Rotation of the clamp as the screw member is threaded into the support brings the lip into locking contact with the component recess and a cammed surface on the bottom of the body into frictional contact with the component. A second cam substantially similar in shape and orientation to the bottom cam is formed on the top of the head and serves to aid in the accurate positioning of the bottom cam.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1985Date of Patent: September 22, 1987Inventor: Jay P. Patent number: 4513938Abstract: A retractable apparatus for holding garbage or refuse cans in an erect position includes a hollow casing implanted in the ground, a telescoping support column contained in the casing, and a head fixture attached to the support column for receiving and securing blade extensions attached to refuse cans. The casing is buried so that its upper end is substantially flush with ground level. The support column is retracted, when not in use, to a storage position contained within the hollow casing, by collapsing a number of telescopically interconnected elements which make up the support column. A recess is provided at the top of the inner surface of the hollow casing to receive and contain the head fixture in a position substantially flush with ground level. To secure refuse cans in an upright position, the support column is telescopically extended to an above-ground position. Blade extensions attached to the refuse cans are then inserted into receiving slots in the now-elevated head fixture.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1981Date of Patent: April 30, 1985Inventor: Charles M. Patent number: 4069999Abstract: A clamping device for securing a workpiece such as an electronic package to a support such as a heat sink. A curved slot is machined around a central opening in the body of a configurated flat metal clamp having an extending lip which contacts the edge of the workpiece. The central opening in the clamp body receives a hold down screw member which threadably engages the support. When the hold down screw is fully tightened against the support with the extending lip over the workpiece, the known clamping force predetermined by the thickness and configuration of the clamp body is applied. The need for a torque wrench and specific fastener torque values to prevent possible distortion of the surface of the heat sink is eliminated.Type: GrantFiled: November 10, 1976Date of Patent: January 24, 1978Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Air ForceInventor: James A.
