  • Patent number: 10480206
Abstract: A sliding seismic isolator includes a first plate attached to a building support, and an elongate element extending from the first plate. The seismic isolator also includes a second plate and a low-friction layer positioned between the first and second plates, the low-friction layer allowing the first and second plates to move freely relative to one another along a horizontal plane. The seismic isolator also includes a lower support member attached to the second plate, with a biasing arrangement, such as at least one spring member or at least one engineered elastomeric element, which can include one or more silicon inserts, positioned within the lower support member. The elongate element extends from the first plate at least partially into the lower support member and movement of the elongate element is influenced or controlled by the biasing arrangement.

  • Patent number: 10479515
Abstract: A strut for mounting an engine in an aircraft includes a first member and a second member. A friction material is coupled to a surface of the first member and is positioned between the first member and the second member. At least one attachment couples the first member, the second member, and the friction material. A biasing mechanism is associated with the at least one attachment. A biasing force of the biasing mechanism biases the second member into engagement with the frictional material to create a static frictional load between the first member and the second member.

  • Patent number: 8453990
Abstract: A lifting-adjusting assembly for a shaft has an outer device, an inner device and multiple positioning elements. The outer device is adapted to mount around a shaft and has a base and a mounting casing. The mounting casing is mounted around the base and has a chamber, an opening and a cone surface. The inner device is movably connected to the outer device and has a moving mount and at least one spring. The moving mount is movably mounted in the outer device and has a mounting chamber, a pressing segment and multiple positioning holes. The at least one spring is mounted in the chamber to enable the positioning holes to face to the cone surface. The positioning elements are mounted in the positioning holes of the moving mount and abut with the cone surface and the shaft to hold the lifting-adjusting assembly on the shaft.

Abstract: A high precision mirrormount comprises a retaining plate retaining reflecting mirror; an adjusting plate behind the retaining plate; a retaining ball fixed between the retaining plate and the adjusting plate; a fine-adjusting plate installed at the backside of the adjusting plate; a tension shaft fixed to the adjusting plate and exposing out of the fine-adjusting plate; tension springs being installed around the tension shaft; a first adjusting screw serving to coarsely adjust the adjusting plate to move closer or far away from the retaining plate; and a second adjusting screw having one end resisting against an elastic element which has an elastic coefficient of the elastic element being very smaller than those of the tension springs. Thus, the second adjusting screw has an effect of fine adjustment. In 2D case, two above structures are formed along an X axis and a Y axis respectively.

  • Patent number: 7757441
Abstract: An apparatus for isolating and leveling a machine foundation with respect to a substructure of a building or the ground. The apparatus of the present invention provides an enclosure connectable to the machine foundation. A load bearing member is disposed within and adjustably connected to the enclosure. A primary support member and a secondary support member are positioned between the bearing member and the substructure for isolating the machine foundation from the substructure. The magnitude of force carried by the secondary support member may be adjusted to consequently adjust the natural frequency of the machine foundation.

  • Publication number: 20090090838
Abstract: An adjustable mouse lap pad has a working platform with flat upper and lower surfaces. Two sets of dual tracks are secured to the lower surface, each track set having two track members with teeth. Four pad supporting saddle elements are configured for comfortable placement on the lap of the user. The saddle elements are positioned within the sets of tracks. Each saddle element has teeth which engage with the teeth of the track members. The saddle elements are biasedly controlled, by push button activation, to move along the tracks and, at desired locations on the lower surface, to be locked in position within the teeth of the track members. This securely maintains the saddle elements under the platform, eliminating unwanted shifting and movement while the pad is on the thigh or lap of the user.

  • Publication number: 20080156956
Abstract: Pressure spring pieces elastically bias a free-form curved mirror such that the free-form curved mirror is pressed against positioning sections and positioned thereby. Displacement restricting sections are disposed opposite to the pressure spring pieces with respect to the free-form curved mirror in biasing directions of the pressure spring pieces with gaps. The gaps are set such that deformation of the pressure spring pieces remain within an elastic range when the free-form curved mirror moves against biasing forces of the pressure spring pieces to come into contact with the displacement restricting sections.

  • Patent number: 6935972
Abstract: A breakaway basketball rim assembly in which the mounting bracket and rim are operably interconnected by a torsion rod which twists resiliently in response to an impact or other downward load on the rim. The torsion rod may extend parallel to the backboard, with one end being mounted to the mounting bracket and the other end being mounted to the rim, so that the torsion rod allows the rim to deflect downwardly about an axis that extends parallel to the backboard. The torsion rod may be mounted to overlapping flanges on the mounting bracket and the rim. There may also be a longitudinal torsion rod that extends perpendicular to the transverse torsion rod, so as to permit the rim to deflect downwardly about axes that extend both parallel and perpendicular to the backboard.
