Patent number: 8123308Abstract: The invention relates to a device for suspending a unit, especially a hydraulic unit of an electronically traction-controlled brake system of a motor vehicle. The unit is suspended in a receptacle provided on the vehicle such that vibrations are damped. Hydraulic units of vehicle brake systems are usually equipped with an electric motor for driving pumps located in the hydraulic unit. The brake pressure in the wheel brakes can be modulated via the pumps. The pump drive can cause mechanical and hydraulic vibrations in the unit which can result in unwanted operational noise in case the vibrations are transmitted to the vehicle body without being damped. The improved device is manually preloaded due to limited space for using tools. A clamping mechanism is guided in an axially movable manner on an armature which is fixed to the hydraulic unit and which can be moved from a basic position into a clamping position. The clamping mechanism is interlocked with the armature in both positions.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2006Date of Patent: February 28, 2012Assignee: Robert Bosch GmbHInventors: Michael Schlitzkus, Andreas Weh, Matthias Mayr

The outer race of a thrust bearing is retained to the load end of the anchor block in axial alignment with the anchor block by means of a bearing retainer. A cylindrical housing encloses the thrust bearing, the guide bearing and the anchor block. The housing has a diametrical partition therein in a mid-region thereof. A bolt retains the diametrical partition to the inner race of the thrust bearing. The housing further has an internal circular step in its base end, and that circular step fitly encloses the guide bearing. A stem-like member is mountable to the load end of the housing.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2004Date of Patent: June 12, 2007Inventor: Christopher N. Cavell

Patent number: 7162040Abstract: An active noise attenuation system includes a speaker housing for a speaker assembly that attenuates noise generated by an air induction system for a vehicle engine. The speaker housing is a generic housing formed from plastic that can be utilized with many different vehicle types. An air cleaner housing is positioned between the speaker housing and the engine for filtering out contaminants from the air before the air is drawn into the engine. Brackets are joined to the air cleaner and speaker housings for mounting the housings to a vehicle structure.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2001Date of Patent: January 9, 2007Assignee: Siemens VDO Automotive, Inc.Inventor: James K. Patent number: 6854561Abstract: Hanger systems are provided for securing exhaust systems to the undercarriage of the automobile. One such system includes a hanger that incorporates an arm, a bushing defining an orifice, a retaining member, and a flange. The orifice receives a proximal end of the arm, which is loosely retained by the bushing so that the arm is able to rotate. The retaining member engages an exterior surface of the bushing and is formed, at least partially, of a strip of material. At least a portion of the strip of material is shaped to conform to at least a portion of the exterior surface of the bushing. The flange extends outwardly from the bushing. So configured, the hanger mounts to the automobile by attaching the flange to the frame member. The arm can be secured to a portion of the exhaust system so that the exhaust pipe is securely retained. Methods and other systems also are provided.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2002Date of Patent: February 15, 2005Inventor: Trampas N. Bass
