  • Patent number: 5817248
Abstract: A mold designed to be operated easily by one person to form large blocks. Generally, the walls of the mold are attached to the base with a pivoting assembly such that the walls of the mold fall away from the molded material after hardening. Levers and fulcrums of various designs are used to facilitate the mold wall movements. Additionally, quick release and tightening mechanisms are used to secure the mold walls. Also, the wall of the mold can be designed to incorporate patterns such that the blocks formed in the molds can interlock when stacked, forming a very sturdy wall. Further, specially designed inserts can be utilized to quickly modify the mold.

  • Patent number: 5755982
Abstract: A mold system for casting five-sided, monolithic, seamless concrete products comprises an outside jacket, an inside mold core complete with base, and a movable pallet to aid stripping. The outside jacket preferably includes two L-shaped panel members arranged in a rectangular configuration which are supported for movement between open and closed positions by a pair of base-mounted corner actuators extending from the fixed base to the apex of each panel member. The panel members are also linked to one another by a series of actuators along each of the adjoining two corners of the jacket. The inside core includes four interior panels linked by four inside retractable corners. A minimum of two series of actuators also span the middle portion of the inside core. These middle actuators in conjunction with the actuators in the corner devices function to expand and contract the entire inside mold core. A plurality of base supported actuators are fastened to the inside core.

  • Patent number: 5605646
Abstract: A domed container for the preparation and display of food includes a receptacle, a dome cover, and a hollow mold member. The receptacle has a bottom with a top surface and an outer circumference. The bottom possesses at least one groove in a closed, continuous pattern. The groove has two side surfaces and a bottom surface, and each side surface is configured to include projections extending into the groove. The dome cover includes a top wall having at least one wall depending therefrom. The depending wall has an outside surface and an inside surface. The container possesses a locking structure for releasably locking the cover to the receptacle. The hollow mold member, which forms a closed continuous pattern, has a lower edge that fits into the groove of the receptacle and is held in place from each side by an interference fit between the projections of the side surfaces of the groove and the lower edge, thereby removably attaching the hollow mold member perpendicularly to the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 5511762
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an open top, walled member for containing a molten metal, including the steps of forming an inner wall of a mold with a metal sheet and an inner lining covering the sheet, wherein the inner wall defines an inside surface of the walled member and transferring a casting compound between an outer wall of the mold and the inner lining of the inner wall to form the walled member. The metal sheet and inner lining are then removed to allow one to apply heat to dry the casting compound. In the case where the metal sheet includes a plurality of openings, one may also retain the inner wall during the heating step. The heat to dry the casting compound is applied to the inner lining to a sufficient temperature to melt the inner lining and uncover said openings of the metal sheet. The metal sheet is removed when the casting compound is dried.

  • Patent number: 5505893
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an open top, walled member for containing a molten metal, especially a flowing molten metal or reconstructing a worn or damaged member. The method includes the step of forming the inner walls of a mold which define the inner surfaces of the walled member of an open metal mesh screen which is meltable by the molten metal which is to be contained. The next step is to transfer, usually by pumping, an alumina-silicon carbide casting compound into the space between the open mesh metal screen and the outer walls defining the mold, which outer walls may be in situ structures. If an existing walled member is being repaired, any damaged or worn portions of the existing walled member are removed and the casting compound is poured in to replace these portions. The next step is to apply heat to dry the casting compound while the open mesh screen of the mold remains in place in contact with the casting compound.

  • Patent number: 5496008
Abstract: An apparatus for molding experimental, prototype and replacement parts from rubber materials. The apparatus consists of a mold having walls made from layers of fiberglass cloth and laminating resin reinforced with a mixture of quartz sand and laminating resin; a frangible cellular core made of a two component system polyurethane foam core and a hard outer coating of a quick set resin; a wax; and a release agent. The frangible core is formed by coating the surfaces of a core forming cavity of a core box with the wax to fill in irregularities; buffing the wax coating to provide a smooth finish; applying the release agent over the wax; coating the release agent with the hard quick set resin; and filling the core forming cavity with the two component system polyurethane foam. The frangible core is inserted in the mold, a rubber polymer is injected into the mold and the frangible core is removed from the part by breaking the core into small pieces after the part is removed from the mold.
