The pressure seal is created along a substantial length of the core member which is preferably made of resiliently compressible plastic to enhance the seal. The outlet spout located downstream of the diffusing flow path is provided with interior baffles to prevent vortical flow and the resulting frothing in the liquid. The valve chamber and components are sloped to assure that all liquid downstream of the seal can flow toward the outlet spout after the valve is closed. Immediately downstream of the diffusing flow path there is a transition path permitting the flowing liquid to expand gradually without cavitation before entering the expanded downstream end of the valve chamber.

Abstract: A portable thermosyphon water heating system for use by outdoor enthusiasts, or others at locations remote from a conventional supply of hot water. Water is heated by an open campfire flame in an enclosed heat exchanger, and is circulated between the heat exchanger and a portable non-pressurized reservoir by thermosyphon action. The hot water returning to the reservoir is discharged through a floating transfer conduit assembly, so the discharge rises and falls with the water level in the reservoir. The floating nature of the hot water return allows the majority of water within the reservoir to be used before refilling is needed, while maintaining thermosyphon action. Abstract: A normally-closed valve that can be easily connected and disconnected. Disposed in the fluid passageway through the valve is a flexible, resilient disk and a pin mounted adjacent to the disk. A nozzle is inserted into the passageway and urges the pin against the disk, causing the disk to deform. When the disk deforms, its effective diameter decreases, and its edge separates from the passageway wall, permitting fluid to flow through the valve. • Patent number: 4247134
Abstract: Sealing means sealing interconnected fitting assemblies. A faucet assembly with an externally threaded stem is mounted on a bunghole assembly with an internally threaded bore by turning the stem of the faucet assembly into the bore of the bunghole assembly. A winged nut is carried on the stem of the faucet assembly. It is advanced on the stem to compress a gasket or washer interposed between the nut and the bunghole assembly. A fluid-tight connection may be established after desired orientation of the faucet assembly with respect to the bunghole assembly.

  • Patent number: 4016907
Abstract: Disclosed is a tank bottom internal valve housing. A low profile valve housing with a valve such as a butterfly valve and a means for opening and closing the valve is assembled to a saddle on the tank bottom by a number of bolts located around the periphery of the valve housing and engaging in threaded blind holes in the tank saddle. A discharge nozzle is mounted on the lower face of the valve housing in such a way that the discharge nozzle mounting can be sheared away from the rest of the assembly during, for instance, an accident without affecting the integrity of the valve housing itself.

  • Patent number: 3976277
Abstract: A pinch tube type valve adapted to be mounted to a liquid container receiver to accept an elongated flexible outlet tube protruding from a liquid container disposed in the receiver for selective control of liquid flow through the tube from the container. The tube is passed through a passageway in the valve body for selective engagement by a stem which is reciprocable into and out of closing engagement therewith. The passageway is enlarged adjacent the inlet end of the valve body to permit easy insertion of the liquid container outlet tube therethrough. An apertured tube retaining area is disposed adjacent the outlet end of the valve body passageway to receive and retain the tube in a desired position relative to the container receiver to facilitate ease of liquid dispensing operations. The stem may also include a tube engaging protrusion arrangement when the valve is contemplated for use in pressurized liquid systems.
