  • Patent number: 10085852
Abstract: A locking grip extraction tool has plier handles with jaws having sharp beveled edges for moving in a direction so that an axis perpendicular to the plane of movement is oriented at an acute angle to the handles; the axis intersecting the plane of jaw movement at a point midway between the jaws. A locking link coupled to the handles is adapted to releasably lock the jaws onto an orthopedic implant. A connection rod can be threaded into a hole in one of the handles near the jaws, so that a force applying tool such as a slap hammer can be connected to the rod to apply force to remove the implant. The rod is in alignment with the axis, which alignment makes it easier to remove the implant.

Abstract: A nail extractor advances a spinning drill tube into wood closely around the head of a nail to be extracted. As the drill tube advances into the wood around the nail, it compresses a drilled core of wood between the nail and the inside of the drilling tube. As this compressed core of drilled wood deepens or lengthens, it engages and rotates the nail, spinning the nail free from the wood in which it has been embedded. The spinning drill tube can then be removed with the nail and the compressed core of drilled wood, without touching the nail with the extractor tool. The nail is then preferably ejected from the drill tube by advancing an ejector pin into the drill tube.

Abstract: An extraction tip having first and second extraction segments. The first extraction segment is positioned at a distal end of the extraction tip and the second extraction segment is spaced therefrom. The first extraction segment includes an axial slot for transverse insertion of a stem portion of a pin and the second extraction segment is recessed from the first extraction segment to form a stepped surface between the first and second extraction segments. The second extraction segment is non-expandable to hold a head portion of the pin in abutment with the stepped surface so that the stepped surface pushes against the head portion to eject the pin.

  • Patent number: 6701805
Abstract: A stone hammer having a weighted head has detachably rotatable and reversible faceplates defining striking edges on opposite ends of the head. The edges of the faceplates define cutting edges for trimming stone and the like. As a striking edge becomes worn, another striking edge can be selected by repositioning the faceplate. A striking edge may be selected by rotating a faceplate, individually reversing a faceplate, replacing a faceplate, striking with an opposing end or different edge of the hammer, or any combination thereof. In one embodiment, the faceplates are attached by a symmetrical pattern of bolts disposed in the faceplates. A worn striking edge is replaced by unbolting the faceplate and either flipping the faceplate over, or replacing the worn faceplate with a new faceplate having fresh, sharp edges.

Abstract: A pneumatic nail puller tool for use with a standard needle scaler actuator. A needle scaler typically actuates a chipping hammer installed by means of a chuck. The nail puller tool is so sized and configured as to replace the chipping hammer and lock into its chuck. The nail puller, so installed, is useful in quickly removing nails from a work piece, even where a nail head is buried in the work piece. The nail puller includes a central shaft having a shank having flats and a detent seat for locking into the needle scaler chuck at one end and a nail removing claw at the opposing end. The claw is angled relative to the shaft to provide a lever point to assist in extracting the nail. The claw has sharp entrance points for digging into the work piece to grip an embedded nail head.

  • Patent number: 6598856
Abstract: A portable hydraulic stake puller includes a hydraulic cylinder that extends to raise a jaw assembly. The jaw assembly pivots, while being raised, to grab and trap the stake. A grab hook may alternatively extract similar items not readily removable with the jaw assembly. The jaw or chain tension is controllably released when the control lever is released at any height of the stroke. Squeezing the control lever can again attain grip easily. The gripping action of the jaw is attained by at least friction against the jaw. When the control lever is released, the entire lift assembly returns to the neutral position under a spring tension. The hydraulic stake puller is mounted on wheels and controlled via handles allowing easy maneuvering.

Abstract: The present invention resides in a tool that is provided for separating a cutting bit from a cutting bit holder used in connection with a rotary a cutting assembly for use in a roadway surface reclaiming machine. More particularly, this invention is directed to providing a tool for quickly and effectively removing cutting bits from the cutting bit holders. The present invention accomplishes this objective by providing a pulling mechanism that is mechanically assisted. In this invention, a bit puller is provided for engagement with the cutting bit and is also attached to a powered retractor to forcibly move the cutting bit. The cutting bit and the retractor are fixed to an outer frame or brace. This outer frame or brace generally circumscribes the bit puller to provide an inner space within which the bit puller can be moved by the retractor. The outer frame or brace has a surface for engaging the cutting bit holder to position the retractor during separation.

Abstract: A surgical process for removing the third phalanx of a feline, and most commonly a housecat, while reducing bleeding, swelling, pain and tissue deficit. A circumferential incision is formed on the epidermis of the ungual crest and traction is applied to the epidermis in a cranial direction. This exposes the extensor tendon and synovium, which are incised by the laser from a dorsal position aimed in a palmar direction. While applying traction to the third phalanx in a palmar direction, the collateral ligaments are ablated, permitting further disarticulation of the PII-PIII joint. Finally, the flexor tendon and tissue of the pad are incised by the laser from a dorsal position, permitting removal of the third phalanx. The declaw site is then covered with the redundant epithelium preserved in this process.
