A mixture of a thermoplastic resin and mineral filler is prepared, the resin comprising about 10% to 40% by weight of the mixture and the filler comprising about 60% to 90% by weight. The mixture is mixed at a temperature above the melting point of the resin and is formed into a sheet at such temperature. The sheet is allowed to cool until the surface is at a temperature below the midpoint of the melting range of the thermoplastic resin, e.g. in the range of 210 to 220 degrees F. (99 to 104 degrees C.), for polyethylene, at which point it is strained by passing it through calendering rollers. The sheet material made by this process, having a high concentration of mineral filler, is fire resistant, durable, ductile, of moderate weight and resistant to weathering. It can be produced using relatively inexpensive manufacturing equipment.

The upstream roller has an exterior surface including a corrugation pattern defining a plurality of circumferential channels. A heating source heats the filter media so that the filter media is within its elastic temperature range when the filter media engages the upstream roller. A motor drives rotation of the upstream and downstream rollers. A controller controls the motor so that the downstream roller rotates at a rotational speed greater than the upstream roller to impart tension to the filter media at the upstream roller. The heated filter media at least partially enters the channels of the corrugating pattern on the upstream roller to form corrugations on the filter media. Abstract: In the tube manufacturing industry, five general methodologies for manufacturing tubes are known at this time. The first is under an extrusion of molten metal by means of a press. The second is by means of a rotary lamination system known as “Piercing” or “Mannesmann”. The third is the welded pre-tube that is obtained from a laminated strip. The fourth, known as the “Cast & Roll” system, whereby a pre-tube, obtained directly from the melting, is laminated by a triple roller system. Finally, the innovative manner whereby a continuous vertical casting manufactures pre-tubes continuously, directly from the melt. The four first systems are widely used in the industry to manufacture what is known as a “pre-tube” that usually has a diameter of 60 mm or higher, which we shall name “old pre-tube”. Different processes are applied to that old pre-tube to bring it to smaller diameters and thicknesses finally required by the market.

Abstract: The present invention relates to relates to a stone-made green energy paper and a method for making the same, wherein the stone-made green energy paper is made of some non-toxic materials consisting of a stone powder, a pure-white silica powder and a non-toxic resin. This stone-made green energy paper can be used as a base paper for further machining to a green energy writing paper or a green energy art-using paper. The stone-made green energy paper includes the advantages of good ink absorption, high waterproof, high strength, high folding performance, and free-pollution. Moreover, the most important is that the stone-made green energy paper has no CaCo3 ingredient, so that the stone-made green energy paper can be incinerated through an incinerator, without producing any acid gas.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for automatic and hands-free threading of an elastomeric mix into a calender set of rolls comprising one or more pairs of rolls that have a nip between them. A stripper roll is positioned next to one of the rolls forming the nip and is rotated so that the outer surface of the stripper roll moves in a direction opposite to the outer surface of the adjacent roll. The stripper roll removes all or a desired portion of the elastomeric mix from the adjacent roll and causes the same to transfer to another roll. Variables such as e.g., the relative surface speed of the stripper roll, diameter of the stripper roll, and distance of the outer surface of the stripper roll from the adjacent roll can be manipulated to control the amount of the elastomeric mix that is stripped by the stripper roll.
