With Reinforcement Filler, Or Additive Patents (Class 264/177.2)
  • Patent number: 6398998
Abstract: A method for producing shaped bodies of particulate material by introducing an easily flowable slurry of water and particulate material into a mold with perforated walls and by applying a sufficiently high pressure to the slurry in the mold so as to express a sufficient proportion of the liquid to allow physical contact and interengagement between the particles. The method may be carried out continuously in an extrusion process including introducing the slurry under high pressure into a extruder and conveying the slurry through a shaping section of the extruder to a draining and consolidation section of the extruder with drain holes and slits whereby a non-flowable, consolidated, shaped body leaves the extruder through an exit section.

  • Publication number: 20010038161
Abstract: A fastening component of a separable fastener has some portion that is necessary for its fastening function, such as the hooks, the base to which the hooks are attached or a substrate that is used for another purpose, comprised of a magnetically attractive constituent. Another portion of the fastening component is comprised of a magnetically inert constituent. The fastening element may be the hook portion or the loop portion of a typical fastener. The fastening elements and the base may be unitary, or of different precursors, such as in a woven fastener component. The magnetically inert constituent may comprise a polymeric plastic or a thermoplastic elastomer. The magnetic attractant may impregnate the magnetically inert constituent, or it may coat or be coated by the magnetically inert constituent. The magnetic attractant may comprise a metal powder. The metal may be selected from the group consisting of iron powder. The magnetic attractant may be an organo-iron or a rare earth metal.

  • Patent number: 6231803
Abstract: A method for stretching plastic nets and grids having the peculiarity that it consists in subjecting the product to be stretched to irradiation with electromagnetic waves with a wavelength above the infrared range, so as to heat the product by dielectric loss, and in subjecting the product to traction in order to produce stretching in at least one direction. The method allows to substantially improve the ability of the polymer to absorb the energy in order to profitably perform the stretching process.

  • Patent number: 6221293
Abstract: A method for producing a compound from a plastics material with fixed fiber inlay uses a heated screw-type extruder (1) in which filaments (2) are drawn by means of automatic drawing-in, are cut up and mixed there and are subsequently removed as a finished fiber compound. To achieve a high content of long fibers in the finished fiber compound, before entering the extruder (1) the filaments (2) are impregnated with the plastics material in an impregnation tool (3).

  • Patent number: 6221288
Abstract: A method of producing a composite stratiform material uses at least one extruder having a pair of co-rotating screws to co-extrude at least three layers, each layer having polypropylene and at least one filler. In a carrier layer the filler is particulate organic filler, and in first and second outer layers the filler is an inorganic filler. The co-extrusion provides for interfusion of the carrier layer with the outer layers at mutually opposite layer interfaces. The particulate organic filler of the carrier layer is either vegetabilic or wood which is extruded by a co-rotational extruder. The inorganic filler is introduced into at least one second extruder for extruding at least one of the outer layers.

  • Patent number: 6210616
Abstract: An extrusion process and apparatus is described for the manufacture of a thermoplastic resin-filler composite product having a desired resin-filler mixture comprised of 60-20% by weight of a thermoplastic resin and 40-80% by weight of a filler. A resin-filler mixture, in homogeneous form, is extruded through a die at a temperature above the softening point of the resin to form an extrudate having a desired cross-sectional shape. The extrudate is then passed through a die land at a temperature of above the softening point. From the die land the extrudate is cooled in a cooled shaper and transferred thereto through a thermal barrier insert member which is disposed in contact between the die land and the cooled shaper whereby radial pressure to counteract radial expansion tendencies of the extrudate is maintained during the passage. The cooled shaper cools the extrudate to a temperature of about at least 20° C. below the softening point of the resin.

  • Patent number: 6174476
Abstract: An extruded hook fastener strip is created on a roll having hook forming cavities in its surface by extruding plastic material into the interface between the forming roll and a second strip carried by a backing roll. The second strip is firmly bonded to the fastener strip on that side opposite the formed hooks.
