  • Patent number: 8919607
Abstract: An analyte test strip vial having a restrictor to dispense analyte test strips in a controlled manner. In general, the restrictor includes one or more openings (e.g., central and/or arc-shaped openings) that are appropriately sized to facilitate the dispensing of a manageable number of analyte test strips from the vial container. The restrictor may also include one or more surface features (e.g., tabs, cavities, and/or tapered surfaces) to facilitate in the removal of analyte test strips, and the matting and/or removal of the restrictor from the vial container.

  • Patent number: 7140337
Abstract: In a valve gear mechanism of an internal combustion engine, there is provided a valve opening and closing a combustion chamber, a spring device which generates a force pressing the valve toward a valve seat, a drive mechanism driving the valve in an opening direction via an operating section capable of being in contact with and separated from the valve, and a separation inhibiting device which inhibits a separation between the operating section and the valve.

  • Publication number: 20040239066
Abstract: An upper portion of a damper connected at its lower end to a lower arm of a suspension is accommodated within a side frame having a closed section. An upper spring seat, which is a mounting portion for the damper, is fixed to a lower surface of the side frame by a bolt. Thus, the support rigidity of the damper is enhanced, whereby the responsiveness of the damper to a load input from the lower arm is improved. Moreover, since the upper portion of the damper is accommodated within the side frame, an internal space in the side frame can be utilized for disposition of the damper. In addition, it is unnecessary to arrange the side frame and the damper side-by-side in a lateral direction of the vehicle body, and hence it is easy to ensure a space for disposition of the suspension.

  • Patent number: 6260834
Abstract: A pulley tensioner for applying torque or tension to a pulley includes a spring system configured to encircle the periphery of the pulley. The spring system is anchored to the pulley housing or some other fixed location. The spring system is made up of one or more coil springs which are wrapped around the periphery of the pulley. Where multiple springs are used, preferably each spring has a different spring constant and length. This allows the operator to select the desired tension depending upon the operating parameters of the printer. The applied tension may be further modified/tuned by using an additional spring member to anchor the spring system to the pulley housing or some other fixed location.

  • Patent number: 6098971
Abstract: A variable hysteresis module for use with an accelerator pedal with an electronic throttle control system for vehicles and the like includes a follower moveable along a back plate and urged by return springs against a cam actuator. The actuator acts against an angled side of the follower that resolves the pedal force on the actuator into a parallel component opposing the spring force and a normal component urging the follower against the back plate to develop friction that produces hysteresis. The hysteresis varies with the force of the return springs and so generally increases as the engine throttle is opened and decreases as the engine throttle is returned closed. If the spring force is reduced, the friction force is proportionally reduced. Other variations are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5695176
Abstract: A torsional vibration damper with an essentially cup-shaped hub ring made of metallic material, an annular casing and a rotating ring. The hub ring and annular casing and the rotating ring are spaced from one another by a radial clearance and are joined in a torsionally flexible manner by a spring element made of elastomeric material. The spring element is arranged in the opening formed by the clearance. The casing of the hub ring is provided at least radially externally with an adhering first coating made of thermosetting plastic, which coating may have a pulley-type of surface profiling. The first coating may be reinforced with fibers for dimensional stability, and the second coating may expand and contract with temperature variations to ensure constant prestressing in the spring element.

  • Patent number: 4997201
Abstract: A wheel suspension for motor vehicles has a wheel guiding member and a spring strut, the spring element of which has at least two spring parts which are spaced away from one another in a direction of a spring axis. These spring parts form a clearance between one another and are connected with one another by an intermediate element. The spring parts are respectively arranged above and below a ring section of the tire. By means of an intermediate element which is directly adjacent to the section and extends approximately in vertical direction, they are, arranged in series, connected with one another.
