Patent number: 4639994Abstract: Apparatus for processing the damaged tubes of a steam generator either to prepare the tubes for insertion of a sleeve, or to insert a sleeve or to treat the sleeve after it is inserted. This apparatus includes a drilling tool for drilling out plugs, a sleeving tool for inserting sleeves in the tubes, a high-roller tool for rolling the sleeves at their upper ends where they have been expanded, and a low-roller tool for rolling the sleeves at their lower ends in the tube sheet. The sleeves are inserted in the tubes and are rolled by rolls driven by a hydraulic motor. For drilling, for sleeve insertion and for high and low rolling, the motor is controlled by a servo control valve.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1983Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventors: Frank W. Patent number: 4586415Abstract: Apparatus for displacing a working member both vertically and rotationally is disclosed. A shaft is slidably mounted within a sleeve mounted for rotational displacement within a frame. A working member is secured to a hub which is secured to the shaft such that it may be both vertically displaced and rotationally displaced. A yoke assembly is connected between a vertical actuator and the shaft for effecting vertical displacement of the shaft without limiting rotational displacement. Additional means are provided for rotating the sleeve to effect rotational movement of the shaft. The sleeve is connected to the shaft such that rotational movement of one causes the other to rotate without limiting sliding displacement therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 1984Date of Patent: May 6, 1986Assignee: Essex Group, Inc.Inventor: Christopher Pali

Patent number: 4560152Abstract: A powered work clamping device includes a housing having an upper chamber and a lower chamber, and a piston in the lower chamber connected to an index rod which projects into the upper chamber. The index rod is axially movable but not rotatably movable, and is biased to an upper position. A plunger extends from the housing and has a work engaging member at one end with a piston at its other end disposed within the upper chamber. The plunger is mounted on the index rod for axial and rotative movement, and is biased to a retracted clamped position. To unclamp a workpiece, hydraulic fluid is directed to a valve assembly within the device which sequentially delivers fluid first to the upper chamber to extend the plunger and then to the lower chamber to axially move the index rod and its piston to swing the plunger.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1984Date of Patent: December 24, 1985Assignee: Applied Power Inc.Inventor: Douglas P. Miller

Patent number: 4506871Abstract: A retracting clamp suited for clamping a die or a workpiece, a die of an injection molding machine in particular, is disclosed, wherein a hydraulic cylinder is provided in the rear part of a clamp housing, a clamp block is carried slidably by a gently tapered underside of the front part of its piston rod, and the clamp block is urged forward by a spring so as to drive it for clamping at its extruded position and, when clamping is over, the clamp block is retracted to its retracted position and a piston is urged toward the clamping position as necessary by a spring, and the position of the clamp block is detectable by means of limit switches.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1983Date of Patent: March 26, 1985Assignee: Aioi Seiki Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Keitaro Yonezawa

Patent number: 4504046Abstract: A retracting clamp for dies or workpieces, especially for the die of the injection molding machine, whose clamp arm is installed in the chamber of the clamp housing so as to shift its position between an extended position and retracted position. The clamp arm is driven with a wedge connected to the piston-rod of the hydraulic cylinder. A spring enables clamp arm to hold the clamping force in case of hydraulic oil leakage. There is also provided means for retracting the wedge without failure and means for detecting the positions of the clamp arm.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1983Date of Patent: March 12, 1985Inventors: Keitaro Yonezawa, Tsutomu Sirakawa

Patent number: 4451026Abstract: A clamping member is urged to move in a first direction along a path substantially parallel to a work supporting surface in response to the application of a single linear force, such as a fluid actuated motor. Stop means limit the travel of the clamping member in the first direction. In response to continued force applied by the fluid motor, the clamping member is caused to move in a second direction anchoring a workpiece to the work supporting surface.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1982Date of Patent: May 29, 1984Assignee: Stevens Engineering, Inc.Inventor: Robert L. Coope

Patent number: 4396318Abstract: The collet-type drill includes improved clamping means having a pressure foot member that is in engagement with the work piece. The pressure foot member is connected with a drill motor and with a feed means. A collet is operably connected to and movable relative to the foot member, and when actuated, connects the drill to the work piece. A clamp bushing has one end pivotally connected with the collet and encircles a cylindrical sleeve that has a transverse slot extending therethrough. The bushing is connected to the pressure foot member. A clamping piston extends through the sleeve and carries a connecting pin that extends through the slot in the sleeve into the clamp bushing whereby the bushing and collet are movable together in response to movement of the clamping piston to force the collet into holding engagement with the work piece.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1981Date of Patent: August 2, 1983Assignee: Dresser Industries, Inc.Inventors: Sam C. Jensen, Robert M. McClure

Patent number: 4365792Abstract: A clamp is disclosed which has a clamp block provided with a clamp surface for engaging a mould, die or the like. The clamp has a wedging member engageable with the clamp block and a rod receivable in a bore in the block. The rod is normally biased out of the bore so that a piston and cylinder assembly can be actuated so that the piston moves the rod and wedging member and also the clamp block to a position adjacent the mould, die or the like, whereupon continued movement of the piston forces the rod into the bore and the wedge member under the clamp block to pivot the clamp block into clamping engagement with the mould, die or the like.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1980Date of Patent: December 28, 1982Assignee: Johns Consolidated LimitedInventor: Roy W. Johns

Patent number: 4240620Abstract: A gripping arrangement includes a gripping member operatively connected with a differential both-side acted piston movable in a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder. The piston stroke includes a first step and a second step. The pressure acted upon the piston to move the same into the respective gripping position is partially counteracted at the first step so as to eliminate an undesirably fast movement of the gripping member during at least initial portion of the stroke. The remaining portion of the stroke the piston moves under full pressure exerted by the pressure medium supplied in the cylinder without any counteracting effect.Type: GrantFiled: March 19, 1979Date of Patent: December 23, 1980Assignee: Tuenkers GmbHInventor: Josef-Gerhard Tunkers
