  • Patent number: 10759025
Abstract: A vise includes a base and two opposed jaws. At least one of the jaws is movable with respect to the other so that an object can be gripped therebetween. At least one of the two opposed jaws includes a frame and an array of polygon-shaped pins stacked parallel to one another. The frame has a bottom side and two opposed sides tapering towards the bottom side. The pins are disposed on the bottom side. Each pin has a cross-sectional shape such that when stacked together, the pins fit flush with one another and an area defined by the frame is tiled by the pins without any substantial gaps therebetween. The pins are oriented such that the tapering opposed sides direct force vectors to increase a pin-to-pin clamping force and the frame selectively clamps down on the pins such that the pins are held in place.

  • Patent number: 8578746
Abstract: A ring supporting device is provided with six support shafts capable of approaching and separating from the inner walls of metal rings. Each of the support shafts has an exposed side wall having formed thereon annular ridges and grooves. The side walls of the support shafts each have cushioning materials having a height substantially corresponding to the height of each of the grooves. The cushioning materials deform when the inner walls of the metallic rings make contact with the cushioning materials, and this relaxes a force which tries to expand the metallic rings from the inner wall side to the outer wall side.

  • Patent number: 7040610
Abstract: The press tool includes a frame, an abutment part mounted to one end of the frame, and a lever actuated ram mounted to the other end of the frame. The ram includes a pair of interchangeable fittings (one for affixing the push nuts and one for removing the push nuts). Rocker plates pivotally connect the rams to a long lever, which extends and retracts the ram through a tubular sleeve mounted to the frame. The assembly fitting includes a magnet that holds a push nut to the ram. When the lever is depressed, the ram extends and the push nut is pressed axially onto the axle rod. The removal fitting has a two pronged head. When the lever is depressed, the prongs deform the push nut flange, which bends back the teeth that secure the push nut to the axle.

  • Patent number: 6345816
Abstract: An improved hydraulic vise jaw incorporates a fluid supply which communicates hydraulic fluid to an area behind a plurality of pistons such that the pistons are held outwardly against a part with a generally uniform force. Each piston is positioned in a piston cylinder. The piston cylinders are arranged in several columns and a supply passage connects each of the piston cylinders in an upper row and a second supply passage connects each of the piston cylinders in a lower row. A communication hole selectively connects a first piston cylinder in the top row with a second piston cylinder in the bottom row. Preferably, the communication hole connects piston cylinders which are in distinct columns. In this way, the flow of hydraulic fluid between the rows is somewhat restricted such that an equal and adequate holding force is maintained on the pistons. In another feature, a pin selectively holds the pistons within the piston cylinders such that they are prevented from moving outwardly of the body.

  • Patent number: 5746423
Abstract: A vise with a clamp having a housing with clamp fingers and load transfer elements enabling the fingers to move relative to each other to compensate for tolerance variations between workpieces simultaneously clamped or contour variations in a workpiece. • Patent number: 4894896
Abstract: Precision centering device useful for positioning items in a predetermined position has first and second halves which are held within a frame. The first and second halves are maintained against retaining walls within the frame by resilient material. The bottom portion of the halves extends from the bottom of the frame and each has a tapered edge which face each other in order to hold the item to be positioned. The top of the halves are maintained within the frame by a resilient structure which allows the halves to move in a vertical position. The halves which accomplish the positioning do not have to be made from precision parts. As the parts wear the centering precision is maintained since the parts are mirror images of each other made from a common piece of stock material.
