    Abstract: Disclosed herein is an adjustable stand for supporting objects on the adjustable stand, in accordance with some embodiments. Accordingly, the adjustable stand comprises a bottom plate, a middle plate, a top plate, a toggle mechanism, and an actuating device. The toggle mechanism allows pivoting of the top plate in an unlocked state and restricts the pivoting in the locked state. The actuating device transitions the toggle mechanism to the unlocked state by receiving a first actuating input and transitions the toggle mechanism to the locked state by receiving a second actuating input. The toggle mechanism transitions to the unlocked state from the locked state based on applying a pivoting force on the top plate above a threshold pivoting force without receiving the first actuating input. The toggle mechanism transitions to the locked state from the unlocked state based on releasing the pivoting force applied to the top plate.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for trephining corneal tissue is disclosed which reduces post-operative astigmatism in corneal transplant patients. A donor corneal-scleral button is accurately centered onto a concave surface by means of concentric rings and then held in place, preferably by suction. A rotating circular cutting blade is then lowered through the button to cut out a circular section which forms a donor button. An apparatus to carry out the method of the present invention comprises a curved surface for retaining the corneal-scleral button with circular indicia for positioning the button and apertures for applying a suction thereto. An upper part which is movable into and out of the space immediately above the curved surface mounts a motorized cutting device. The rotational speed and the lowering of the cutting device are controllable by the operator.

    Abstract: The specification and drawings disclose an anode assembly for use in electrolytic cells, and apparatus for forming such assemblies. The anode assembly comprises an anode riser to which is joined a parallel pair of metal sheets which form anode surfaces. The sheets are joined to the riser by connecting means which permit movement of the sheets toward and away from one another while maintaining their parallel relationship. Additionally, the connecting means is such that it maintains a tension on the sheets to prevent them from warping or assuming a non-planar configuration. The disclosed apparatus permits assembly of the sheets to the riser in a simple, rapid manner.
