  • Patent number: 10954091
Abstract: A suction mechanism for suctioning a loop transporting belt a medium processed by a processing unit, a rotation mechanism for rotating the transporting belt, a stacker for stacking the medium transported by the transporting belt, and a change mechanism for changing a movable area are included. The rotation mechanism, after suctioning the medium to the transporting belt to rotate in a first rotation direction to transport the medium in a first transport direction, rotates the transporting belt in a second rotation direction to transport the medium in a second transport direction to stack the medium on a stacker. The change mechanism narrows a movable area when the medium is transported in the second transport direction compared to an area when the medium is transported in the first transport direction.

  • Patent number: 9027922
Abstract: A system and method are provided improving stack integrity for a set of image receiving media substrates at an output of a compiler in an image forming device by supplementing a compiler shelf with a pair of augers having a unique planar lead-in for a top surface of the augers. The vertical compiler components reduce a “stepped” configuration of conventional compiler systems to keep a bottom sheet substantially “flat” thereby reducing a tendency for the bottom sheet to disadvantageously shift during in-set alignment processing. The large flat surface at the top of the augers effectively extends the plane of the lead edge shelf. A larger contact area with the sheets/sets of image receiving media substrates, along with the flatter shape of the sets, results in a more stable stack with a lesser tendency of individual sheets to migrate away from a registration edge.

The discharge reverse unit includes a guide member to guide the paper passing through the printing device to the discharge unit, and a lifting part to lift the guide member up and down. The image forming apparatus can prevent jams in a paper discharge device even when increasing a discharge speed in a discharge path, through which a printed printing medium is discharged in such a state that a printed surface of the printing medium is directed in a down direction.

Abstract: Apparatus for feeding sheets of paper printed by a printer to a sheet processing device is disclosed where the printer has a sheet discharge outlet and the processing device has a sheet inlet at a different location (e.g., a different height) than the discharge outlet. A sheet conveyor is provided for conveying the sheets from the sheet discharge outlet to the sheet inlet. The apparatus blows air to cool on each sheet as it is conveyed from the discharge outlet to the sheet inlet, and the apparatus at least partially eliminates static electricity from the sheets as they are conveyed.

Abstract: Provided is a paper-currency transfer device, which prevents paper-currency clogging in a paper-currency transfer unit composed of a plurality of transfer units and which neither has a complicated structure nor needs a dedicated drive source. A medium transfer device transfers a medium from a sending-side paper-currency transfer passage as a first transfer passage to a receiving-side paper-currency transfer passage as a second transfer passage. The medium transfer device comprises a runner mounted coaxially with a transfer roller on a receiving side of the receiving-side paper-currency transfer passage. The runner is rotated at a higher speed than that of the transfer roller on the receiving side. The drive source of the runner is common to that of the transfer roller.

  • Patent number: 8181952
Abstract: A paper sheet handling mechanism and method includes a loop-shaped part configured to hold a paper sheet (W1). Once a paper sheet (W2) present on the upstream side of a transport path relative to the loop-shaped part is fed to the loop-shaped part, the paper sheet (W2) present on the upstream side and the paper sheet (W1) present on the loop-shaped part are respectively moved, such that the paper sheet (W2) can be stacked with paper sheet (W1) circulated along the loop-shaped part. A paper sheet length detector determines whether the length of the paper sheet (W2) in the transport direction, which is fed to the loop-shaped part from the upstream side relative to the loop-shaped part along the transport path, is longer than a predetermined length. If the length is longer than the predetermined length, the paper sheet (W2) is ejected from the loop-shaped part.
