Racing Patents (Class 273/246)
  • Patent number: 4890842
Abstract: A high-risk racing game in which two to six players own racing cars represented by their pawns which they race along routes of enumerated spaces through the United States, Canada and Mexico on a gameboard. Players are given the cars, or purchase them outright or at auction by total cash or part payment with the balance financed against a car's credit limit. A player defrays incurred expenses by cash payment or debt charged against an owned car. The first player with 100 points on the scoreboard wins the game. The scoreboard records points accumulated by players, cars owned outright and purchased, and cars available for acquisition. Each time a player lands upon or passes the gameboard's score-line space, he collects points for cars he owns, with additional points collected for two-car racing teams of each specific group. The number of gameboard spaces a player advances his pawn corresponds to a number card picked or a certain space landed upon.

  • Patent number: 4817956
Abstract: A move selector for randomly determining the movement of sailboat tokens along a sailboat racing game board. The move selector comprises a disc rotatably mounted within a cylindrical housing. A spindle is mounted on the disc axis for manually rotating the disc. The disc comprises two sets of numerals spaced at angularly equidistant intervals. Each set of numerals has an associated arrow on the disc which extends radially from the disc axis. A mask positioned over the disc has a plurality of windows and an arrow adjacent each window pointing radially away from the disc axis. The windows are spaced at angularly equidistant intervals such that when the rotating disc comes to a stop only one set of numerals and its associated arrow is visible through the windows. The associated arrow determines the wind direction.

  • Patent number: 4809986
Abstract: A regatta board game is disclosed in which a rectangular game board is laid off in a grid of squares established by a first series of parallel lines extending in a first direction and a second series of parallel lines extending in a second direction which is normal to the first direction. Some of the squares are designated as falling within a first, second or third category, the first category designating preliminary course marker positions, the second and third categories providing an indication that a player is to draw a card which partially determines the progress of play. A single eight-sided die is provided, and a plurality of players' tokens and a plurality of course marking pennants are also included among the game accessories, the pennants being each adapted to mark a selected one of the squares in the first category as a sequential position in a randomly selectable course set forth on a "Course Card" drawn just prior to the commencement of play.

  • Patent number: 4799685
Abstract: A sailboat racing board game and game board therefor is provided for racing game pieces through a race course made from contiguous squares. An upwind leg of the race course provides tacking movement for the game pieces can move forwardly against a fixed wind direction. The squares along the upwind leg are oriented in a particular direction so that the game pieces can move in diagonal directions with respect to the fixed wind direction to simulate tacking. While at the same time, the game pieces are not moving in a direction which is diagonal with respect to the orientation of the squares. The game also provides game cards which the players pick up if they land on certain indicated squares on the game board.

  • Patent number: 4708348
Abstract: A game in which all of the pieces, while movable for play, are captured against removal and loss from the game. Player movable pieces are received for movement along slots extending through the thickness of a playing surface but are captured by upper and lower enlargements against removal. Discreet positional stops are provided along the slots by spaced apart depressions into which a mating truncated conical portion on the movable pieces fits. In one form, a captive rotatable disc cooperates with the playing surface to permit selective opening of covers that obscure indicia matchable with indicia designating positions along a slot path.

  • Patent number: 4624463
Abstract: Indy Class 500 is a board game for entertainment. Two or more players may participate in the game. The physical limit of participants is eight players. The object of the game is for one of the participants to be first in completing twenty laps around the game board course. Obstructions are provided in the game to cause participants uncalculable obstacles in completing the twenty laps. The game board identifies the participants actions. It is divided into twenty five numbered sections. Each section instructs the participant in what to do. Each participant selects a small race car facsimile which is used as his marker. The markers are advanced in turn by throwing of dice, which determines the number of sections the participants may advance. The game also educates the participants with historical facts relating to motor racing.

  • Patent number: 4288077
Abstract: This invention relates to a horse racing lottery game. The apparatus for the game comprises a racetrack having a plurality of starting positions and a finish line, a plurality of game pieces supported on the track and being movable therearound, there being less game pieces than players playing the game, and a plurality of groups of tickets corresponding to the game pieces such that each group has a plurality of tickets each having indicia corresponding to only one of the game pieces and indicia enabling each ticket to be distinguished from other tickets of the same group. Each player selects tickets of his choice and places the selected tickets of each group in a separate container pertaining to the respective game piece. The tickets are then shuffled, and one ticket is drawn at random from each container, thereby indicating which of the players is assigned to each of the horses running in the race.
