Abstract: Cylinder head gasket having a single-layered or multilayered metallic gasket plate with sealing beads in at least one metal layer, which are elastically deformable in height and surround the combustion chamber through-openings, and deformation delimiting devices which delimit the flattening of the sealing beads; in order to achieve as good a sealing function as possible in the long term and as good a protection as possible of the sealing beads against inadmissibly high deformations during operation of the engine, deformation delimiting devices, one of which is formed by a meandering bead stamped into a metal layer, and the other by a plurality of elevations stamped out of a metal layer, are provided radially inside and radially outside the sealing beads.

Abstract: A multilayer static cylinder head gasket has at least one metal functional layer and a metal distance layer having registered openings. The functional layer has a full bead located radially outwardly from and extending about its opening. The opening in the distance layer is formed in a first portion having a first thickness. A second portion of the distance layer extends radially outwardly from the opening and the first portion, wherein the second portion has a second thickness that is less than the first thickness. A compression limiter is formed in at least one of the functional layer or the distance layer. The compression limiter prevents the full bead from being completely flattened, which in turn maintains the full bead in high sealing pressure against the distance layer relative to the remaining portion of the functional layer and also prevents premature fatigue cracks from forming in the full bead.

Abstract: A metal gasket is made up of a backing material made of stainless steel, a galvanizing film is formed on a surface of the backing material, and a sealing rubber film is formed on a surface of the galvanizing film. In one embodiment a silane coupling type vulcanizing adhesive is applied to the surface of the galvanizing film and heated at a temperature of 100° C. to 200° C. for a prescribed period to generate a zinc oxide film on the surface of the galvanizing film and to bake the silane coupling type vulcanizing adhesive. Vinylidene fluoride type rubber containing a polyol type vulcanizing agent can be calcined onto its surface to form the sealing rubber film. The metal gasket can be provided on a mating surface of a cylinder head and a cylinder body of an engine provided in an outboard motor.
