Patent number: 7040060Abstract: Improved mounting elements, mounting arrangements, and methods of mounting liners to structures, such as stair assemblies, in pools and spas are disclosed. One aspect is a mounting element for retaining at least a portion of a liner to a structure of a spa or pool, the mounting element including a face plate and a gasket mounted to the face plate. Another aspect is a mounting arrangement including a gasketed mounting element comprising a face plate and a gasket mounted to the face plate and means for mounting the gasketed mounting element to a structure wherein the liner is secured. Another aspect is a method of mounting a liner to a structure of a pool or spa. The invention facilitates the assembly of pools and spas by reducing the number of individual parts required and minimizing the potential for damaging the liner compared to prior art arrangements and methods.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 2003Date of Patent: May 9, 2006Assignee: Saratoga Spa & Bath, Inc.Inventor: Wesley O. Patent number: 7036825Abstract: A casing for a HVAC system in an automobile for moving air comprises a plurality of sections, each of which is molded of plastic material. The sections of the casing are connected and sealed to one another at a plurality of joints. The improvement resides in the tongue having a slot extending into the distal end thereof for splitting the tongue into first and second forks in frictional engagement with the side-walls of the groove. The forks are compressed together by the groove to narrow the slot from top to bottom to retain the tongue in the groove and to seal the sections together.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2003Date of Patent: May 2, 2006Assignee: Delphi Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Edward Douglas Pettitt, Ronald A. Patent number: 6966537Abstract: A valve is disclosed having a telescoping seat assembly that fits into a pocket or enlargement of a flow passageway through the valve body. An outer seat element seals with the pocket utilizing a plurality of seal assemblies to seal with the pocket whereby pressure may become trapped between the seal assemblies during valve operation under certain unusual conditions. A groove with a tapering or angled surface is provided in the outer seat. A seal ring is disposed in the groove whereby pressure from one side of the seal ring moves the seal along the tapering or angled surface to wedge the seal into contact with the wall of the pocket. Pressure from the other side of the seal ring moves the seal ring along the tapering surface and away from the wall of the pocket so as to be out of sealing engagement thereby permitting bleeding off of the pressure or de-energizing of the seal assemblies.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2003Date of Patent: November 22, 2005Assignee: Worldwide Oilfield Machine, Inc.Inventor: Alagarsamy Sundararajan

Patent number: 6962348Abstract: A sealing apparatus includes a sealing arrangement and a groove in a base. The sealing arrangement may comprise an o-ring and a grounding gasket where both the o-ring and the grounding gasket partially protrude in a longitudinal direction from the groove. Thus, the grounding gasket, which is equipped with ends that can be pulled out of the groove, can be removed from the groove by a pulling force. This leaves the o-ring accessible for removal or maintenance at a much lower cost in terms of manufacturing and operational costs. The sealing arrangement may also include inner and outer o-rings which seal a fluid flow from the atmosphere.Type: GrantFiled: July 28, 2003Date of Patent: November 8, 2005Assignee: Tokyo Electron LimitedInventor: Steven T.
