Abstract: In a robotic tool changer, a rotating cam surface ring having a plurality of surfaces formed therein urges a plurality of ball members in one tool coupling unit radially to contact a coupling surface in the other tool coupling unit. Mechanical energy captured and stored upon decoupling the units is used by an actuation mechanism, upon manual initiation, to at least partially automatically couple the two units by partially rotating the rotating cam surface ring. Further manual rotation of the cam member exerts a radial force through the ball members onto the coupling surface. Abstract: A reciprocating tool that includes a spindle that reciprocates with respect to a housing within a cavity of the housing. The reciprocating tool includes a blade clamp mechanism actuator coupled to the housing for movement with respect the housing between first and second positions. The spindle reciprocates with respect to the blade clamp mechanism actuator. A blade clamp mechanism is coupled to the spindle for reciprocating movement therewith, and the blade clamp mechanism is configured to attach the saw blade to the spindle. The blade clamp mechanism includes a collar mounted on the end of the spindle, and the collar is rotatable about the longitudinal axis of the spindle between an engaged position and a disengaged position in response to movement of the blade clamp mechanism actuator between the first position and the second position.

Abstract: A reciprocating saw is provided having a motor oriented within a housing for operably driving a saw bar and blade holder in a reciprocating motion. The blade holder has a longitudinal slot for receiving a saw blade, and a transverse aperture extending into the longitudinal slot for receiving a follower. A sleeve is pivotally mounted upon the body, and has a circum-axial cam groove formed therein cooperating with the follower. Rotation in a first lock direction urges the follower into the longitudinal slot for engaging the saw blade and rotation of the sleeve in a second unlock direction allows the follower to retract. A biasing member is included for biasing the sleeve in the first lock direction. The sleeve central bore is adapted to provide clearance for the follower such that the sleeve is permitted to axially translate relative to the body for assembly or disassembly of the blade holder.
