  • Publication number: 20150123395
Abstract: A coupling for conveying a fluid between a stationary part and a rotatable part having confronting ports centered on a rotation axis of the rotatable part has an axially extending tube fixed in the port of one of the parts and extending toward the port of the other of the parts and a control element axially slidable on the tube. The one part, the tube, and the control element form an annular chamber around the tube pressurizable for axially shifting the control element. A first slide ring is connected to the control element and carries a seal ring turned toward the port of the other part, and a second ring on the other part at the port thereof axially bears on the first slide ring so that pressurization of chamber presses the slide rings axially against each other.

  • Patent number: 7841627
Abstract: A device for connection of a coolant feed to a roller, especially for continuous casting plants, is arranged in that the roller is mounted by journals in bearing blocks in rolling bearings and is supplied with coolant by way of axial bores through the journals. The device includes a flange with an elastic sleeve that is fixable thereon. A first sealing element has a first sealing surface that is fixable on the elastic sleeve and is rotatable therewith. A second sealing element has a second sealing surface engagable with the first sealing surface and is fixed to, supported by or integrated into a bearing block cover fixed on the bearing block for covering the roller bore and the roller bearings. An axial bore penetrates the elastic sleeve and the bearing block cover and permits feeding of coolant into the interior of the roller. The sealing surfaces of the sealing elements are perpendicular to the rotation axis.

  • Patent number: 7399001
Abstract: A rotary coupling has a nonrotatable stator having a stator passage with an end opening along an axis and a rotor rotatable on the stator about the axis and having a rotor passage with an end axially confronting the stator end. A rotor seal is rotatable with the rotor end about the axis, and a stator seal is rotationally fixed to the stator end and bears axially on the rotor seal. Thus the rotor seal rotates on the stator seal on rotation of the rotor. A strain element that changes size in response to temperature in the stator adjacent the seals is coupled to one of the seals for shifting the one seal relative to the other seal in response to temperature changes adjacent the seals.

  • Patent number: 6944989
Abstract: A system and kit of components for winterizing plants and trees, where the invention comprises a skeletal frame formed by plural first tubular members, each having an upper end and a lower end. When assembled, the respective lower ends are spaced apart and positioned vertically and anchored within the ground surrounding the plant or tree. Joined between adjacent first tubular members are plural second tubular, horizontally oriented, members to form a generally square skeletal frame. About the skeletal frame is a light-transmitting plastic wrap. Overriding the skeletal frame is a top frame, preferably pivotal about a pair of upper ends, to allow access to the protected plant or tree. Additionally, the invention contemplates a cover, such as a plastic wrap or canvas-like material over the top frame to ensure complete protection of the plant or tree.

  • Patent number: 6719329
Abstract: A high pressure swivel includes an inner and an outer wall. Each annular wall is connected to a respective distribution member via apertures which have an axial dimension which is smaller than the diameter of the inlet or outlet. In this way, the pressure area between the seals of the inner and outer rotatable walls is reduced. Each distribution member may include a chamber that is defined by the external surface of the inner and outer annular walls, and an enclosing wall. In this way, an effective thermal isolation is provided by the distribution chambers adjacent to the external surfaces of the inner and outer rings. Deformation of the distribution chambers of the swivel will tend to decrease the width of the seal extrusion gap.
