Swivel Patents (Class 285/272)
  • Patent number: 4409748
Abstract: The rotation assembly is comprised of a frame structure having a top surface. A longitudinal slot is formed along the top surface extending therethrough. A first pulley and second pulley are rotatably mounted to the top surface of the frame such that the slot is generally therebetween. A hydraulic cylinder is fixably mounted to the frame and has a pin extending through the cylinder arm of the hydraulic cylinder and the slot. Rotatably mounted on the pin atop the frame surface is a third pulley, such that activation of the cylinder arm causes the third pulley to travel along a path defined by the slot. The frame is fixably mounted to the rear of the snowblower housing. A first and second cable is fixably attached at one end to the side of the snowblower chute. The cables are looped around the pulleys in such a manner that activation of the cylinder causes the relative length of the cables with respect to the pulleys to vary, resulting in the rotation of the snowblower chute.

  • Patent number: 4392676
Abstract: A hose handling device has a fitting adapted to be secured to one end of a hose. The fitting has a peripheral groove in its exterior surface in which a ring is mounted for relative rotational movement with respect to the fitting. An eye adapted to be engaged by a hook is fixedly secured to said ring. Advantageously, the eye is formed by opposed legs which conform to the outer diameter of the ring and are secured thereto by welding or the like. Preferably, the inner diameter of the ring has a relatively flat central portion each side of which is connected to a slightly beveled portion which, in turn, may be connected to a more sharply beveled portion connected to an exterior face of the ring. To facilitate swivelling the inner diameter of the ring may have a peripheral groove communicating with a grease fitting mounted on the exterior of the ring. The fitting may be connected to one end of a hose and have its other end threaded for connection to a threaded fitting.

  • Patent number: 4357238
Abstract: A suction type inlet head, adapted for coupling to a fire hose or the like, is lowered into a tank, such as a portable tank known as a "dump-and-go" tank used in fighting fires in rural areas. The suction or inlet head is heavy enough to gravitate to and remain in stable position upon the bottom of the tank, and to this end has a flat weighted base plate which lies directly upon the bottom of the tank. The base plate supports, in a position slightly elevated above the tank bottom, an inlet nozzle retaining plate, having a wide transverse slot for receiving a transversely extending suction cylinder eccentrically, pivotally mounted upon the base. The suction cylinder merges into a hollow connecting portion on which there is provided a hose coupling for connecting the fire hose in communication with the cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4354698
Abstract: A swivel joint for pressure containing conduits such as movable flow lines may comprise a pair of hub elements each having means establishing interconnection with a section of flow line, the hub elements being abutted in such a manner as to define a flow passage through the swivel joint construction. A thrust flange is formed on each of the hub elements, the flanges being retained within a split housing structure that serves to retain the swivel joint in assembly. Rotatable relationship between the hub elements and the body structure is established by a thrust bearing that is interposed between an internal shoulder of the housing and a segmented bearing retainer that also forms a part of one of the thrust flanges. A low friction spacer element may be disposed between the thrust flanges of the hubs to prevent the development of friction retardation of swivel movement.
