Securing Cup Or Tube Between Axially Extending Concentric Annuli Patents (Class 29/506)
  • Patent number: 5127156
Abstract: An inner cylindrical component is disposed on a bottom portion of an outer cylindrical component with a clearance which is formed between an outer diameter portion of the inner component and an inner diameter portion of the outer component. A guiding pin for positioning is inserted concentrically through the inner component and a tip end portion of the guiding pin engages with the bottom portion of the outer component. An outer peripheral portion of the positioned inner component is locally and vertically pressure-pressed. A portion of the inner component is extended in an outer diameter direction according to the pressure-pressing plastic deformation. The extended member of the inner component is joined together with the inner diameter portion of the outer component. The extended member of the inner component and the outer component are mutually combined together. After the pressing operation the guiding pin is withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 5096234
Abstract: A hose connection for high pressure installations and a method for making the same in which a nipple provided with externally projecting beads or ribs, preferably of annular configuration, is internally expanded by an expanding tool while the hose is constrained against radially outward movement by a sleeve-like member. To enhance the holding ability of the connection, the sleeve-like member is provided with inwardly extending annular grooves, preferably so arranged that the deepest point of the annular grooves are located between peaks of adjacent beads or rims.

  • Patent number: 4999900
Abstract: A method is shown for installing a product monitoring device in an underground storage tank, such as the tanks used to store petroleum products. A product sensor is passed through the annular space defined between the tank riser pipe and fill pipe into the tank interior. The product sensor is used to sense representative characteristics of the product located within the tank interior.

  • Patent number: 4530145
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing a pipe connection are disclosed. The apparatus includes an inner pipe formed on the pipe to be joined which has a widened end part. An outer pipe in the pipe connector is dimensioned to receive the inner pipe and has an undercut formed therein to receive the widened end part. A sleeve is mounted inside the inner pipe with a close tolerance so as to be substantially free from play. The sleeve has a widened wedge-shaped portion which engages the inner pipe internally. As a result, the inner pipe is retained between the undercuts and the wedge-shaped portion of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4451966
Abstract: A heat transfer tube assembly comprising a pair of fluid circulation tubes disposed co-axially one within the other, the inner tube being held substantially concentric within the outer tube by a plurality of pairs of diametrally opposed depressions or dimples formed in the peripheral surface of the outer tube at regular intervals. Each depression or dimple projects inwardly such as to engage and indent the peripheral surface of the inner tube and to cause a corresponding portion of the inner tube to bulge inwardly during forming of the dimples in the periphery of the outer tube by forming punches or, preferably, by two pairs of diametrally opposed rolls, each provided with an appropriate dome-shaped protuberance on its peripheral surface for roll forming the dimples as a result of longitudinally feeding the outer tube, with the inner tube disposed within the outer tube, between the rotating rolls.

  • Patent number: 4293147
Abstract: A method for connecting a plastics pipe to a fitting incorporating an externally grooved insert. The insert, which is a tight fit in the pipe, is forced into the end of the pipe, and a sleeve, previously located on the pipe, is then forced to the end of the pipe so that the pipe end is tightly gripped between the insert and the sleeve. The insert is tubular and is provided with a plurality of circumferential grooves in its outer surface. Each groove has in axial section substantially straight sides and a straight base, the angle between the base and each side being obtuse. Insertion of the insert causes the external diameter of the pipe to increase so as to be greater than the internal diameter of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4197782
Abstract: A lockbolt collar configured to reduce the longitudinal tension in a lockbolt which otherwise has the effect of reducing its cross section, and hence the tightness of its fit where it passes through the secured parts, the longitudinal tension being caused by the swaging of the collar onto the lockbolt. An external taper of the collar toward its end adjacent the secured parts commencing at a location intermediate its ends provides a spatial cavity within the swaging die of sufficient size to receive collar material displaced during swaging and thereby significantly reduce the reverse flow of such collar material causing such longitudinal tension in the lockbolt.

  • Patent number: 4053247
Abstract: The specification discloses a double sleeve coupler for coupling coaxially juxtaposed plain end steel pipe sections or pipe pile in metal-to-metal leakproof contact and at the same time providing a high strength connection under tension. A number of forms of couplers are disclosed, all essentially having two rigid metallic cylindrical sleeves of different diameter arranged coaxially one within the other with an annular space or socket therebetween at each end into which the wall of the plain end pipe or pipe pile may be driven as by hammering or by a pile driving hammer. The annular space between the sleeves expands radially outwardly in diameter toward the center of the coupler to a larger cylindrical diameter adjacent the center of the coupler. The length of the expanded inner section of the socket exceeds the thickness of the annular space forming the socket.

  • Patent number: 4037305
Abstract: A compound billet for extrusion by isostatic liquid pressure which has a core and a casing with a gap therebetween is produced by applying a sealing ring with greater thickness than the gap between the core and the casing around the rear end of the core, then inserting the core into the casing, and pressing the sealing ring to stick in the gap between the core and the casing so that the sealing ring and/or the casing are deformed. The rear end of the casing is beveled inwardly.
