  • Patent number: 11596990
Abstract: The invention relates to a steel-plate descaling device, including several steel-plate surface descalers and several steel-plate side-surface descalers disposed along the direction of a flow line as well as a trolley rail disposed in parallel to one side of the flow line. At least one roller-changing vehicle slides back and forth on the rail. The roller-changing vehicle is provided with a roller-changing mechanism. When the roller-changing vehicle slides to a front side of the steel-plate surface descaler, the roller-changing mechanism extends into the inner part of the steel-plate surface descaler to change the roller. The oxide scale of the steel-plate surface is removed physically, having low pollution and high descaling efficiency without a blind spot, and simultaneously having a high degree of automation in replacing the descaling roller through the roller-changing vehicle, saving both time and effort.

  • Patent number: 10569319
Abstract: A sheet metal straightener uses a direct coupled eccentric drive for improved pilot release. A motor, coupled to an eccentric bearing, causes connecting arms to reciprocate. At least one of the banks of rollers is coupled to a pivot hinge, and the connecting arms are coupled to a pivoting bank of rollers, causing the pivoting bank to index toward the other bank of rollers in an engaged position for material straightening, and to index away from the other bank of rollers in a relaxed position for pilot release. The pivoting roller bank is preferably a top roller bank positioned above the lower bank. The motor rotates 360 degrees to complete a full cycle, from fully engaged at 0/360 to fully relaxed at 180. The width and degree of roller engagement may be variable to account for different materials and thicknesses.

  • Patent number: 8707529
Abstract: A metal processing apparatus comprises a scale breaker apparatus having a plurality of rollers positioned in a staggered arrangement and engaging first and second surfaces of sheet metal. The staggered arrangement creates clearances between the rollers of the first and second surface rollers sufficient to enable the sheet metal to conform to a portion of an outer periphery of at least one of the rollers while passing between the first and second surface rollers under a tensile force. The metal processing apparatus further comprises a recoiler adapted to coil the length of sheet metal. The recoiler subjects the sheet metal passing through the scale breaking apparatus to a tensile force sufficient to conform the sheet metal to a portion of the outer periphery of at least one of the rollers with a wrap angle sufficient to break scale from the sheet metal.

  • Patent number: 8572826
Abstract: A method and a device for improving the outer surface quality by an in-line outer surface treatment of slabs, which are produced in a continuous process from strand casting to hot rolling, with a heating furnace arranged between a CSP-casting machine and a hot rolling train. A defined surface of the slab with a layer thickness per slab side of up to 4 mm is oxidized in a targeted manner by an oxidation device. An oxidation treatment of the slab surface is combined with the following processing in-line method steps: prior to the oxidation treatment the outer surface of the slab is freed of naturally occurring scale by a scale washer, after the oxidation treatment a created oxidation layer as well as the newly formed scale is cooled, mechanically broken up in a roll pair and removed from the surface of the slab by a scale washer.

  • Patent number: 8386066
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for suppressing the influence of roll eccentricities on the run-out thickness of a rolled stock, which runs through a rolling stand, roll eccentricities being identified by using a process model and taken into consideration in the determination of a correction signal for at least one final control element, preferably a final control element for the adjustment position, of the rolling stand, wherein the measured tensile force upstream of the rolling stand is fed to the process model to identify the roll eccentricities. According to the invention, variations in tensile force are fed back in a targeted manner to reduce the effects of periodic roll eccentricities on the rolled stock, whereas all other sources of variation are eliminated. A process model of the rolling nip and the rolls, preferably based on the observer principle, produces reliable data on the roll eccentricity.
