Abstract: The present disclosure describes composite actuator piston rods and methods for making such rods. Composite actuator piston rods of the present disclosure may include a flared end and an embedded nut positioned within the flared end. A rod end assembly may be secured to the embedded nut. The rod end assembly may include a rod attachment end with a threaded surface configured to engage the embedded nut and a edge configured to compress a portion of the flared end. The rod end assembly may also include an external nut proximate to the wedge and configured to exert a force against the wedge.
Abstract: A braided protective sleeve and method of construction thereof is provided. The sleeve has a wall extending along a longitudinal axis of the sleeve. The wall includes a plurality of braided yarns forming inner and outer surfaces of the sleeve. The inner surface bounds an internal cavity and the outer surface is exposed to the surrounding environment. The yarns are braided with one another in a X/Y braid pattern with X and Y being different numerical values from one another. The numerical values of X and Y can be selected as desired to provide the sleeve with the enhanced physical performance characteristics desired. A plurality of yarns extending substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis can be interlaced with the braided yarns. The interlaced yarns can be exposed to the internal cavity and concealed from the environment; exposed to the environment and concealed from the internal cavity, or both.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a piston for a combustion engine comprising a combustion recess, during which an annular fiber preform for reinforcing the edge of the combustion recess is firstly fastened inside the casting mold. Afterwards, a low-silicon aluminum/copper melt is introduced into the casting mold by which the fiber preform is infiltrated and molded into the recess edge within the scope of the casting process. The piston blank produced in this manner is then subsequently compacted by a high-temperature isostatic pressing before the piston is completed by means of a machining completion process. The flanks and the base areas of the second and third annular groove are coated by means of anodic oxidation, and the hub boreholes are smoothed and hardened by roller-burnishing. This results in a very high-quality and heavy-duty piston.
Abstract: An end link adapted to interconnect a stabilizer bar and a suspension member within a vehicular suspension system includes a housing having a first socket, a second socket and a body interconnecting the first and second sockets. The end link also includes a first joint assembly pivotally interconnecting the first socket and the stabilizer bar and a second joint assembly pivotally interconnecting the second socket and the suspension member The first socket includes a net-shaped cavity to receive the first joint assembly.
