Abstract: A wave generator (5) for a flat-type strain wave gearing (1) has a first elliptical outer circumferential surface (6S) of a first wave generator portion (5S) defined by a first elliptical curve (C1), and a second elliptical outer circumferential surface (6D) of a second wave generator section (5D) defined by a second elliptical curve (C2). Compared to using a wave generator for which the contour is defined by a single elliptical curve, differences between the ball load distribution of the first wave generator portion (5S) and the ball load distribution of the second wave generator portion (5D) can be suppressed, both ball load distributions can be equalized, and the equivalent ball load can be reduced; therefore, an increase in the lifespan of the wave generator bearing can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 8881401
Abstract: A degree of freedom of a hypoid gear is improved. An instantaneous axis in a relative rotation of a gear axis and a pinion axis, a line of centers, an intersection between the instantaneous axis and the line of centers, and an inclination angle of the instantaneous axis with respect to the rotation axis of the gear are calculated based on a shaft angle, an offset, and a gear ratio of a hypoid gear. Based on these variables, base coordinate systems are determined, and the specifications are calculated using these coordinate systems. For the spiral angles, pitch cone angles, and reference circle radii of the gear and pinion, one of the values for the gear and the pinion is set and a design reference point is calculated. Based on the design reference point and a contact normal of the gear, specifications are calculated. The pitch cone angle of the gear or the pinion can be freely selected.

Abstract: An angle sensor for determining a rotation angle of a rotatable body, such as a steering column in a motor vehicle, includes a gear wheel. The gear wheel is comprised of a magnetisable material, such as hard ferrite, into which a magnetisation is introduced. The gear wheel is stronger in a central region than in an edge region in which the teeth are arranged. In order to weakly magnetise the edge region, which minimizes a negative influence of the teeth on the homogeneity of the generated magnetic field, the front face of the gear wheel is configured to be magnetized. • Patent number: 8418366
Abstract: An internal gear manufacturing method capable of manufacturing time reduction and easy core removal, and a metallic glass internal gear manufactured thereby. A carbon core formed into a shape of an external gear is arranged in a thin, long tubular mold of a length equal thereto with a space extending longitudinally therealong. A molten metal material is pressure-injected under a temperature higher than a melting point thereof into the space between the mold and the core. The molten metal material is resolidified by rapid cooling at or above a critical cooling rate thereof together with the mold and the core. After resolidification of the molten metal material, the core is removed by pulverization or dissolution. Along internal gear formed of the resolidified metal material is cut into a plurality of segments of a prescribed length.

Abstract: A bidirectional gear set includes a male bidirectional gear component having an array of addendum teeth and a female bidirectional gear component having an array of dedendum sockets, wherein each dedendum socket has a full boundary edge around an open end thereof. One or both of the male and female gear components may have a circular cross sectional geometry, or one may have a non-circular cross sectional geometry. The non-circular cross sectional geometry may be a flat sheet or a sheet with surface contour. In an intermeshed state, neither the male nor the female component can ‘slide’ relative to the other regardless of whether the male and female components are arranged in a parallel or perpendicular orientation. A method of making a bidirectional gear set is disclosed.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a punching method using a punch, which makes it possible to effectively improve the durability of a tooth portion of the punch. In a punching method using a punch for forming a through-hole in a workpiece by punching the workpiece using a punch, at least a tooth portion of the punch is made substantially solid when the workpiece is punched by the punch, and the tooth portion is made substantially hollow, thereby a diameter of the tooth portion is reduced by a reaction force received from the workpiece, when the workpiece is separated from the punch after the punching of the workpiece.

Abstract: A differential gear casing of flower pot construction has an outer surface which is configured for receiving a crown wheel, whereby the crown wheel can be pressed onto the outer surface by different amounts for different applications. The outer surface is free from projections such that the crown wheel can be mounted on the outer surface from any axial direction. The outer surface defines a band on the differential gear casing and is parallel with a central axis of the differential gear casing. The crown wheel is secured to the differential gear casing using an axial weld line. In other embodiments, the crown wheel and/or a cover for the differential gear casing are secured in place using axial and/or radial weld lines.

The second shrink-fit bond is greater than the first shrink-fit bond so that a greater maximum torque to be transmitted from the gear to the shaft by the second shrink-fit bond than by the first shrink-fit bond. An axial intermediate section, attached by a third shrink-fit bond, is located between the axial first section and the axial second section. Both a surface pressure and a maximum torque that can be transmitted by the third shrink-fit bond are greater than the surface pressure and the maximum torque that can be transmitted by the first shrink-fit bond, but are less than the surface pressure and the maximum torque that can be transmitted by the second shrink-fit bond.
