  • Patent number: 10844642
Abstract: A sash window fastener includes a lock assembly, latch assembly, and stop member. The lock assembly mounts upon the meeting rail, and includes a pivotable cam to engage a keeper on the master frame, and a pivotable arm that acts as a follower. The arm interconnects with the latch within the meeting rail, so cam rotation controls arm positioning—causing translational movement of the latch. The cam can occupy four positions causing four corresponding latch positions: an extended position securing the cam to the keeper, with the latch engaging the master frame to prevent tilting, and contacts a first stop to redundantly lock the window; a first retracted position permitting sliding of the window, but limited by the slightly retracted latch clearing the first stop but contacting a second stop; a second retracted position permitting sliding beyond the second stop, but preventing tilting; and a third retracted position permitting tilting.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for engaging and disengaging various members to each other are described herein. The preferred apparatus and methods reduce the number of components and/or sub-assemblies in hinged apparatus and methods and other applications, and simplify and improve the quality and efficiency of installation and removal of latches associated with the hinged elements or members. The latching/locking system and methods of the invention also enable selective relatively permanent engagement of the hinged elements or members to each other, and can permit selective transition between the foregoing hinged and locked relationships. Improved latches are disclosed, with interchangeability, keying to assist assembly, and other features. Methods of fabrication and assembly are disclosed.

Abstract: A fastening system for overhead storage bins on a supporting structure, having at least one pair of suspension eye lugs attached to a supporting structure or the overhead storage bins. The suspension eye lugs are detachably interconnected by a main pin, with receivers for the main pin being in alignment in a mounting position of the overhead storage bin. The main pin is spring-loaded in a main pin guide toward the other suspension eye lug and has, with the overhead storage bin not yet mounted, an end position in which the main pin is deployed from the main pin guide. A portion of the suspension eye lugs has a sloping ramp that allows the main pin to be deployed in the receiver of the other suspension eye lug by action of preload during upward movement of the overhead storage bin and its suspension eye lug into the mounting position.

  • Patent number: 9097038
Abstract: A slide lock device is disclosed for preventing a panel from being displaced from an opening. The slide lock device comprises a latch plate and a mounting plate. A fastener traverses the latch plate and the mounting plate for slidably coupling the latch plate to a first side edge of the panel. A bolt extends from a lower edge of the latch plate. A bolt receiver is coupled to a first side structure of a surrounding structure. A lower stop surface of the mounting plate is adjacent to a lower termination surface of the latch plate for defining a non-locking position wherein the bolt may not engage with the bolt receiver for permitting displacement of the panel relative to the opening. An upper stop surface of the mounting plate is adjacent to an upper termination surface of the latch plate for defining a locking position therein the bolt engages with the bolt receiver upon the latch plate aligning with the bolt receiver for preventing the displacement of the panel relative to the opening.

  • Patent number: 9091103
Abstract: A closure securing mechanism implementing a latching without further operator interaction mechanism for sliding doors when completely slid closed. The closure securing mechanism implements the automatic latching function through industry standard compatible devices or modifications to existing sliding door latching hardware. When the closure securing mechanism is installed on a sliding door the latching mechanism will be positively secured anytime the door is fully slid closed. The mechanism can be opened from inside and outside with standard pull handles with sliding locks. The sliding lock portion has a spring of specific tension, specific body and total length in tension so whenever the door is slid closed and the keeper latch is angled to engage and hold a latching arm inhibiting opening of the door until the tension of the spring is overcome by an operator sliding the sliding lock against the spring in tension.
