Patent number: 5245846Abstract: A locking mechanism for use with lightweight security doors includes a first gear and a mechanically associated second gear. A lock disposed proximate the second gear is adapted to form a releasable locking engagement with the second gear. The first gear is mechanically associated with a locking assembly which intercooperates with the door frame of the security door to produce a locking engagement therewith. The locking assembly is actuated by the rotation of the first gear. A rotation of the first gear causes a corresponding rotation of the second gear and vice versa. The second gear is mounted to be manually displaceable whereby the second gear can be displaced out of engagement with the lock and thereby become rotatable notwithstanding that the lock has been set in its locked condition.Type: GrantFiled: January 2, 1992Date of Patent: September 21, 1993Inventor: C. Patent number: 5193860Abstract: A locking mechanism for a closure such as a window comprises a body containing a gear wheel that is rotated by a handle. This rotation is converted to a locking action by actuating members which are provided with a helical thread which engages helical teeth on the gear wheel. Rotation in one sense throws the members out of the body to perform a locking action and reverse rotation retracts the members into the body in an unlocking action. The position of the members can be altered simply by screwing the members into and out of the body.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1992Date of Patent: March 16, 1993Assignee: Feneseal LimitedInventor: Terry J. Patent number: 5172944Abstract: A multiple point latching system, for use with single or multi-door enclosures, which utilizes a plurality of combinational cam-pinion latch members which are rotatably mounted to the inside surface of the door and simultaneously driven by an elongated rack which extends between such latches and disconnectedly inter-engages therewith. Each combinational cam-pinion latch includes a plurality of teeth which disconnectedly inter-engage with apertures in the rack to cause simultaneous rotation thereof. A handle which is connected to the door and accessible from the exterior thereof drives one of the latch members which in turn causes movement of the rack and consequent rotation of all other combinational cam-pinion latches. Such latches are rotatably mounted at spaced locations along the free peripheral portions of the enclosure door.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1991Date of Patent: December 22, 1992Assignee: Federal-Hoffman, Inc.Inventors: Terry L.
