Patent number: 4435966Abstract: A lock for a motorcycle saddle bag container includes a key operated plug attached to a lock housing mounted on the inside wall of the container. The plug operates a pivotal and transversely movable shutter. The shutter, in turn, cooperates with a strike attached to the inside of the lid for the container. A rubber seal maintains the shutter and strike in a locked position until the lid is manually depressed to compress the seal and release the shutter from the strike.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1982Date of Patent: March 13, 1984Assignee: Keystone Consolidated Industries, Inc.Inventor: Clark E. Patent number: 4312203Abstract: A door lock has a flush-mountable body. A forwardly facing recess is defined by the body. A push-button actuator for operating the lock is carried by the body and is movable between normal and operating positions. A bolt is carried on the back of the body and is movable between latching and unlatching positions. A key-controlled disconnect linkage is provided for selectively drivingly connecting and disconnecting the actuator and the bolt. The disconnect linkage includes a disconnect member which is moved by a key-operated locking member between connecting and disconnecting positions located, respectively, in and out of the path of travel of a latch bolt operating arm. When the disconnect linkage drivingly connects the actuator and the bolt, movement of the actuator from its normal position to an operating position will cause corresponding unlatching movement of the bolt.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 1979Date of Patent: January 26, 1982Assignee: The Eastern CompanyInventor: Edwin W. Patent number: 4306431Abstract: A cedar chest lock remains unlocked unless positive actuation of a strike engaging member is effected. The lock includes a strike member projecting from the chest lid for cooperation with a locking latch plate retained in a housing mounted in the side wall of the chest. The housing thus has an opening for receipt of the strike member. A latch plate is pivotally mounted in the housing and is spring biased to a position which avoids engagement with the strike member upon insertion of the strike member through the housing opening. A push button in the housing may be actuated to engage and position the latch plate for cooperation with the strike member. Actuating the push button and subsequent positioning of the strike member through the opening in the latch housing permits the latch plate to engage the strike member thereby locking the chest lid in a closed position. The push button may include a key operated lock.Type: GrantFiled: November 28, 1979Date of Patent: December 22, 1981Assignee: Keystone Consolidated Industries, Inc.Inventor: Clark E. Craig

Patent number: 4208837Abstract: Guard apparatus for a window or the like in a building characterized by a guard element that is hingedly mounted to a wall adjacent the window and adapted to prevent entry into the window from the exterior and having a releasable fastener that is releasable interiorly of the building without tools to allow emergency egress through the window but resists force exteriorly of the building. The releasable fastener has a lock housing that is inaccessible from outside the building when the lock bar on the guard element is inserted into its normal latched position. Also disclosed are specific structural details and preferred embodiments of the releasable fastener.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1978Date of Patent: June 24, 1980Assignee: Alvis NeelyInventors: William R. Patent number: 4179143Abstract: A fixed latch lock structure including a housing, at the rear and the front of which is symmetrically located a hole at each end with a movable shaft latch passing through. The shaft latch can be latched forward in a fixed hole in a fixed stand manually and can promptly press back automatically from the latching position to where it was by the controlling of the following installation: a control plate in the housing, a spring sheet at the bottom of the housing and the spring extending around on the shaft latch.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1978Date of Patent: December 18, 1979Inventor: Min C. Patent number: 4177656Abstract: A cabinet lock has a one-piece housing with spaced front and back walls interconnected by an end wall and by a pair of spaced side walls. The housing has a first set of aligned holes formed through the front and back walls, and a second set of aligned holes formed through the side walls. A lock actuator mechanism is journaled by the first set of holes and includes an actuator movable between locked and unlocked positions. A rotary latch bolt mechanism is journaled by the second set of holes and includes a latch bolt movable between latched and unlatched positions. The lock actuator mechanism includes a first spring which biases an actuator toward its locked position. The latch bolt mechanism includes a second spring which biases the latch bolt toward its unlatched position. The lock actuator mechanism includes a cam with is interengageable with the latch bolt to retain the latch bolt in its latched position until the lock actuator is moved to its unlocked position.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 1978Date of Patent: December 11, 1979Assignee: The Eastern CompanyInventor: Edwin W. Patent number: 4133142Abstract: A latch for releasably holding two members together. The latch includes a stud adapted to be mounted in fixed position on one of the members and a receptacle adapted to be mounted in fixed position on the other of the members and located to engage with the stud when the members are brought together. A coupling on the stud and receptacle automatically couples and holds the two members together. A release on the stud and receptacle which is exposed for actuation acts to uncouple the latch and permit the members to be separated. The coupling includes at least one flanged finger on the stud resiliently displaceable and a fixed rim on the receptacle so that when the stud and receptacle are engaged the flanged finger will displace and engage the rim to close the latch. The release includes a surface to direct the resilient finger away from engagement with the rim and release the latch when the release is actuated.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1977Date of Patent: January 9, 1979Assignee: Dzus Fastener Co., Inc.Inventor: Theodore Dzus, Jr.
