  • Patent number: 11147744
Abstract: The present invention relates to baby bottles, in particular, to removable attachment handles and toys for baby bottles with an emphasis in the development of finger strength and dexterity though haptic exploration. The backbone of the present invention is a circumferential band made with bonded elastic and rigid plastic material with two equidistant ball joints designed to flexibly sleeve over a baby bottle. Multiple attachment handles and toys have socket joints that can mate to the circumferential band's ball joints, each with a unique focus on developing manual exploration to accelerate the emergence of higher haptic senses (texture, weight, volume, hardness, etc.). The ball and socket joint allows effortless interchangeability to suit a baby's developmental age and also allows customization. Haptic procedures can be habituated as early as newborns and as often as every feeding time, all the while teaching babies how to hold a handle and baby bottle.

  • Patent number: 7686269
Abstract: The present invention provides a medical safety device for holding a container. The medical safety device is used to hold the container while extracting liquid by a syringe from the container. The medical safety device is a unitary flexible main body having two opposing ends. On each end is a hand hold for grasping by the user's hands. A longitudinal slit is positioned within a center portion of the main body. When opposing force is applied to both ends toward the center of the main body, the slit widens, allowing positioning of the container within the slit. Release of the force upon the ends narrows the slit and the container is retained within the slit of the medical safety device. The user may then extract the liquid from the container without holding the container.

  • Patent number: 5833285
Abstract: A device that spaces fingers away from lids of the type having sharp metallic edges when such lids are removed from cans of the pull-top lid type. The device further prevents movement of the can during the lid-removing process. The device includes a flat base having at least one opening configured and sized to receive the rim of a can. The opening is lined with a liner having a vertical surface that is gripped by the fingers during the can-opening process. Thus, the fingers are spaced apart from the edges of the lid when the lid is removed from the can. The palm of one hand rests atop the base and prevents it and hence the can from lifting during the opening process. In a preferred embodiment, a pair of openings of differing sizes are formed in the base, with the openings overlapping to reduce the length of the device. The shape of the opening can be any shape to accommodate differing shapes of cans.

  • Patent number: 5772109
Abstract: A handle assembly is provided for use with cartons having vertical tabs extending above the carton. At least one elongated receiver structure has a longitudinal slot defined therethrough for receipt of the vertical tab. The longitudinal slot defines a plurality of side teeth extending into the slot transversely to the longitudinal axis thereof such that the side teeth lockingly engage the tab when the carton is suspended from the elongated receiver structure. A handle is attached to at least one elongated receiver structure. The handle is configured to be gripped by hand and to convey an upward force to at least one elongated receiver structure to in turn lift a carton or cartons engaged by the plural teeth.

Abstract: An eating utensil in the nature of an improved chop stick system includes a first elongate member having a ratio of length to average cross-section in the range of about 20:1 to about 60:1. The utensil also includes a second elongate member of substantially like geometry to the first member. The eating utensil further includes a spring like element for providing an outward angular bias, the element including two opposing arms, one of each of the arms secured to opposing lateral surfaces of the first and second members, the lateral surfaces being near respective opposing ends of each of the elongate members. The eating utensil yet further includes a guide element for limiting the angular extent in plane of travel of one of the members relative to the other member.

Abstract: An apparatus for manipulating chopsticks is described which can be easily manufactured out of a polymer plastic tube, such as a drinking straw. The tube or straw is divided into a central portion and two wing portions by two transverse cuts. The size of the central portion is selected in accordance with a desired spacing between two chopsticks. Each of the wing portions has an axially extending bore of a size sufficient to accommodate a chopstick in friction fit relation. The transverse cuts extend only partially through the thickness of the tubular body leaving connective strips between the central portion and each of the two wing portions that serve as living hinges.

  • Patent number: 5462327
Abstract: A removable steam table pan puller is presented for use in removing pans from a steam table. The pan puller has an inverted U-shaped handle. The bottom of each leg of the handle has a flange attached. These horizontal flanges are perpendicular to the vertical handle and are approximately the same width as the width of the upper lip of a steam table pan. The flanges are approximately 6 to 8 inches long so that they provide a stable base for carrying the pan once it is removed. The flanges also taper downwardly on each end to enable the user of the pan puller to easily slip the puller flanges underneath the lip of a pan on a steam table. The removable handles come in varying sizes depending upon the size of the pans on the steam table. The pan puller may be used to either pull pans from the steam table or to transport pans from the kitchen to the steam table.

  • Patent number: 5441320
Abstract: A bottle carrier unit which attaches to the necks of one or more bottles for lifting and carrying the bottles. The two-bottle carrier unit is a support device with first and second collars attachable to respective necks of a pair of bottles, the collars being supported on opposite sides of a central handle section, with a longitudinal slit or gap bisecting the central handle section and a radial portion of each collar adjacent thereto. The slit allows the bisected handle sections to be pulled apart, thereby enlarging the size of the collars to facilitate insertion and removal of the bottles. The slit also allows for the torques applied by carrying the unit or the forces applied by grasping the handles to provide additional connection strength to the collars onto the bottle necks. The handle sections may include side stiffening members for providing structural stiffness thereto.
