  • Patent number: 10876399
Abstract: A mining machine includes a frame, a boom supported for pivoting movement relative to the frame, and a cutter head pivotably coupled to the boom. The cutter head includes a housing, a cutter shaft coupled to the housing, a cutting disc, and an excitation mechanism. A second portion of the cutter shaft extends parallel to a cutter axis. The cutting disc is coupled to the second portion of the cutter shaft and is supported for free rotation relative to the cutter shaft about the cutter axis. The cutting disc includes a plurality of cutting bits defining a cutting edge. The excitation mechanism includes an exciter shaft and a mass eccentrically coupled to the cutter shaft. The excitation mechanism is coupled to the first portion of the cutter shaft. Rotation of the exciter shaft induces oscillating movement of the second portion of the cutter shaft and the cutting disc.

Abstract: A machine is disclosed, for making a groove into a ceiling, wall or floor. The machine has a powered truck-like vehicle having a support base and an apparatus mounted on the base. The apparatus has two parallel spaced-apart booms pivotally mounted on the base and a holding head slidably mounted on each boom. An elongated main rail mounted on the heads in such a way that it may rotate about a longitudinal axis parallel to itself. A saw carrier is mounted on the main rail and a motorized saw is mounted on the saw carrier. The saw carrier can move along the main rail and the saw can be displaced on the saw carrier in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The main rail is mounted on the heads with curved support members which are each pivotally connected to the respective head for rotation about the longitudinal axis. Each curved support member has a first end on which the main rail is mounted, so as to allow the main rail to pivot about a transversal axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 5676125
Abstract: Rotary disk saw is adapted to be mounted on an earth excavator or the like, having an articulating and rotatable member for a boom. To this excavating boom, which normally carries a shovel, the saw carrying unit is attached and includes a compound pivot means adapted for orthogonal and transverse rotation about the bucket, the same carrying a saw carrying boom and a carriage which travels up and down the boom, hydraulically driven, to locate a sub-carriage which transversely locates a rotary disk saw. By a relative rotating of compound pivot means and the boom and by locating the carriage and sub-carriage, as required, the saw may be positioned onto a working piece which is to be cut. Such devices are especially suitable for demolition of highway bridges and the like.

  • Patent number: 5333936
Abstract: A cutter machine has cutter heads or rollers rotatably mounted on a pivoting cutter arm. It also has a loading ramp and a conveyor running in a direction towards the work face of the cutter machine to take up and convey away cut material. The cutter arm is mounted on a sliding carriage which is displaceable along guides running in the longitudinal direction of the machine. The carriage is configured as a self-supporting box profile in a clear cross-section space of which a removal conveyor is mounted so that it may slide. For this reason, the cutter machine is particularly well-suited for use in small seam heights and for particularly low constructional design. It may nonetheless be used satisfactorily for operating reliably over a variable tunnel width.

  • Patent number: 5330257
Abstract: An auger mining apparatus includes a support frame holding a tilt platform. A tilt mechanism displaces the tilt platform at a pitch between 0.degree.-45.degree. relative to the support frame. A stacked, dual carriage arrangement is carried by the tilt platform. A bidirectional auger drive system is mounted to the upper carriage. The dual carriages are mounted for reciprocal movement along independent paths extending substantially perpendicular to one another. An auger clamp mounted to the tilt platform includes a pilot member for guiding auger sections and a mechanism allowing movement on the pilot member through two separate planes; the second perpendicular to the first. The auger clamp also includes a clamping/decoupling plate and a mechanism for moving the plate in a third plane orthogonal to the first and second planes. Thus, the pilot member with the clamping/decoupling plate may also be utilized to clamp and hold an auger line in position even in steeply pitched seams.

  • Patent number: 5192115
Abstract: A mobile mining machine for cutting a tunnel in rock has a wheel-like cutterhead assembly supported by a pitch boom assembly that causes movement of the cutterhead assembly in the vertical plane. A swing boom assembly supports the pitch boom assembly and is supported by the base frame of the mobile mining machine. The swing boom assembly causes movement of the cutterhead assembly and the pitch boom assembly in the horizontal plane. During mining, a fixed front support and a fixed rear support anchor the mobile mining machine in the tunnel with front and rear crawlers raised from the tunnel floor. During re-gripping, the front and rear crawlers are lowered to support the mobile mining machine and the fixed front support and fixed rear support remain in contact with the tunnel floor. During tramming, the front and rear supports are raised for transportation of the mobile mining machine on the crawler.
