  • Patent number: 5924208
Abstract: A cutter blade retaining plate having a fitting hole to be used for attachment onto a drive shaft in its center position, in which, on both sides of the fitting hole, a boss portion is provided to which cutter blades having different diameters may be fitted. The various cutter blades, each having a different diameter fitting hole, can be easily attached to the drive shaft by changing the orientation of the cutter blade retaining plate or by pressably sliding the blade onto the boss portion, thereby compressing a moveable boss portion. The invention thus eliminates the need for use of differing collars with cutter blades having differing diameter fitting holes, thereby also reducing the incidence of loss of the collars.

  • Patent number: 5239758
Abstract: A sawing device is attachable to an electric hand drill. The hand drill can be operated by either alternating current or direct current, using a battery. The battery operated drill eliminates the need for electrical cords, so it can be used anywhere. The saw bar may be made of material such as plastic that requires no lubricating oil, is lighter and less abrasive than conventional metal saw bars. There is also a non-metallic insert that will attach to a metal saw bar. This insert may go into the conventional metal saw bars with the same advantages as above. The hand drill rotation is transferred through a connecting shaft to the sprocket that drives the cutting chain, which travels on a chain bar with a single sprocket.

  • Patent number: 5239754
Abstract: A power take-off system for attachment to the elongated bar of a chain saw. A shaft is rotatably carried by a housing which is attached to the bar of the chain saw. A gear is carried on the shaft and is located in a transverse aperture in the bar such that the gear is driven by the nose sprocket in the bar. The housing serves as a guard over the chain on the bar also. The power take-off system may be provided as a self-contained integral unit which replaces the existing cutting bar on the chain saw.

  • Patent number: 5177871
Abstract: A belt tension system for a power tool such as a demolition saw. The system includes a driven gear and a drive gear. The drive gear is orientated perpendicular to the driven gear for more convenience access to adjust the driven gear and, hence, adjust the drive belt. The driven gear can include a second member movably connected to a first member. The second member has a threaded portion and a shaft portion. The first member has helical grooves to interact with the drive gear and a center hole with the second member shaft portion slidingly located therein. The first member can axially rotate the second member when it is axially rotated.

  • Patent number: 5088197
Abstract: There is disclosed a power-driven chain saw converted from a stripped-down power-driven circular power hand saw which has a unitary housing adapted to be mounted on the power unit of the stripped-down power-driven hand saw. The housing has bosses or raised portions which separate the housing into three vertical channels the sides of which are intact down to the open bottom ends thereof. The bosses are for mounting a chain support bar and a guard member and the channels are first, for the ascending chain, the second is for the descending chain, and the third, for venting sawdust. A deflector deflects sawdust into the vent channel. A sprocket floats on a splined shaft to accommodate different support bars, and special oiling ducts and special support bar adjustments are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5083948
Abstract: A relatively small and light weight personal watercraft includes a driveshaft tunnel which permits the driveshaft housing of a string trimmer apparatus to be installed therein. The string trimmer apparatus is modified by removing the string trimmer or other head which may be attached, installing a propeller(s) or impeller(s), removing any handles from the string trimmer, temporarily removing the power head so that driveshaft housing may be installed within the driveshaft tunnel of the watercraft, installing a fairing (if desired) and/or handlebars, and reattaching the throttle control to the handlebars. The modified string timmer may be used as both a power system for the watercraft and also provides directional control by turning the attached handlebars or fairing in order to rotate the power system about an axis concentric with the driveshaft and thereby change the direction of the thrust line of the propeller(s) or impeller(s).

  • Patent number: 5077896
Abstract: An adapter for quickly and easily converting a portable, 71/4 inch wormdrive circular saw into a beam cutting chain saw, whereby to increase the cutting capacity of the saw from about 21/4 inches to about 12 inches. the adapter carries a standard cutting chain and includes a hinged attached assembly to be removably connected to the existing slide bars of the saw. The attachment assembly comprises a pivotal hinge and a hinge attachment plate. The hinge and/or the adjustment plate may be pivoted relative to one another to vary the effective length of the hinged attachment assembly and thereby facilitate the connection of the adapter to the slide bars of the saw. By adjusting the length of the hinged attachment assembly, the adapter can be selectively sized for use with virtually all commercially available power saws, regardless of the radial distance between the existing motor shaft and the slide bars of the saw.
