Abstract: A cup-shaped grass cutting implement which is removably attached to existing rotary cutting heads of powered edgers of the type that can orient the cutting head to rotate about a vertically displaced axis. A quick disconnect feature which allows the cup-like attachment to be retained by the flat blade of such a powered rotary cutting head without interfering with the already assembled blade. The invention provides for a quickly administered pair of retainment fingers which surround the flat cutting blade at points slightly apart from the shaft arrangement for rotating such flat blades.

  • Patent number: 4361956
Abstract: An oscillating saw accessory for a tool having a reciprocating member such as a saber saw is provided. A circular saw blade is mounted in a housing which permits rotary movement of the saw blade. The housing is attached to the tool with the saw blade adjacent to the reciprocating member. The reciprocating member is attached to the saw blade so that the reciprocating movement of the reciprocating member produces an oscillating movement of the saw blade.

  • Patent number: 4359822
Abstract: A handle attachment for power chain saws to extend the use of the basic chain saw structure for cutting underbrush, weeds and the like. The curved handle attachment is detachably pivotally fixed on the body of the power chain saw and positions the cutting bar in a horizontal position instead of the conventional vertical position when the chain saw is being operated in a normal manner to cut wood. The handle attachment is adjustable to accommodate users of different height and such adjustability includes a link bar pivotally connected at one end to the handle and pivotally connected at the other end to the conventional chain saw handle. The handle of the chain saw attachment is provided with an adjustable position hand grip and a throttle control assembly.

Abstract: A sprinkler head grass clipper for coupling to a lawn trimmer, and particularly a lawn trimmer of the type which clips grass by means of a rapidly whirling flexible line. The clipper includes a body adapted for attachment to the lawn trimmer rotor and configured to fit over and engage a sprinkler head to maintain the body in a predetermined clipping position during rotation of the rotor. One or more cutting elements are carried by the body for clipping the grass adjacent the sprinkler head upon rotation of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4321838
Abstract: A power transmission device adapted to be employed with a chain saw for providing a rotary output in a plurality of directions. The device includes a housing having an input shaft coupled with an output shaft where the input and output shafts are right angles to one another. The housing serves as the support for the driven mechanism and provides mounting flanges about both the input and output shafts. The mounting flange associated with the input shaft cooperates with a chain guideplate to adjustably mount the housing to the chain saw. By simply loosening two screws, the orientation of the output shaft relative to the chain saw can be changed by up to substantially 180 degrees. The mounting flange around the output shaft is designed to allow a 360-degree range in orientation of the driven device about an axis coincident with the axis of the output shaft.

  • Patent number: 4300496
Abstract: Firemen and other rescue workers customarily use various portable rescue equipment, such as, saws, or prying tools, and air evacuation or exhaust fans powered by internal combustion motors. As a lack of atmospheric air or a reduction to levels not supporting internal combustion affects the proper functioning of such motors, atmospheric air is excluded from the carburetors thereof by an air exclusion hood means attached thereto or associated therewith, and air from an air pack worn by the worker or other suitable remotely located source of compressed air is introduced thereinto through a line from such source to a demand type regulator valve as such fresh air is demanded or required by the motor. Thus, a supply of uncontaminated air from the air pack or remote source may be fed into the demand regulator valve and, thence, into the carburetor to fulfill the requirements of the motor and to insure the proper functioning thereof.

  • Patent number: 4272889
Abstract: The specification discloses a motor housing, with a handle of the circular saw type, and a cantilever saw bar carrying a saw chain is secured to the housing in a position extending downwardly from a guide foot of the housing. A retractable guard bar normally is held in a position holding a guard loop around the nose end of the saw bar, the guard bar being positioned at the rear of the saw bar. The guard bar is mounted slidably on the motor housing, and, when a latch is manually released, the guard loop may be pushed up along the saw during a boring (nose cutting) operation. In an alternate embodiment, a foot attachable to a foot of a circular saw motor carries a saw bar and a guard bar with a guard loop surrounding the nose end of the saw bar.
