Also, the second housing can be configured to slide in a linear direction to split the pill and form a closed pill container space. The pill splitter can include a platform that is configured to move to hide or expose one of the blades. The first housing may include a spring device integrally formed with a foundation and/or the platform, with the spring device biasing the platform relative to the foundation toward the hiding position.

The guide is positioned on the internal side of the conduit and prevents the cutting surface from contacting encased wiring. The distance between the bottom surface of the shield and the top surface of the guide is closely aligned to the conduit wall thickness. Conduit cutting assemblies can be customized for conduit material and conduit wall thickness. The conduit cutting assembly safely cuts through conduit without damaging encased wiring, limits incidental contact with the cutting surface, and limits contact with dust generated through the cutting procedure.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a ring cutter and ring cracker intended for use by medical personnel. The ring cutter employs a tissue guard that slips under the ring to protect the patient's finger or other appendage. A clipper head is inserted into the tissue guard. The tissue guard does not move and prevents the jaws of the clipper from injuring the patient. The tissue guard may be constructed of plastic that will break away after use to prevent contamination between patients. The invention also incorporates a ring cracker for breaking tungsten or ceramic rings. A recess in a ring base in one of the arms of the ring clipper retains a part of a ring. In the other arm, a threaded bolt with a hardened tip extends toward the ring. The arms of the clipper can be locked by a bar in a fixed position. A knob on the bolt allows a hardened tip at the end of the bolt to exert pressure on the tungsten or ceramic ring until it cracks, without injury to the patient.

    Abstract: A multiple cell battery charger with a parallel topography is disclosed which requires fewer active components than known battery chargers and protects the battery cells from overcharge and discharge. The charger that includes a regulator for providing a regulated source of direct current (DC) voltage to the battery cells to be charged. Each battery cell is connected in series with a switching device, such as a field effect transistor (FET) and optionally a current sensing device. In a charging mode, the serially connected FET conducts, thus enabling the battery cell to be charged. Battery voltage is sensed by a microprocessor. When the microprocessor senses that the battery cell is fully charged, the FET is turned off, thus disconnecting the battery cell from the circuit. Since the battery cell is disconnected from the circuit, no additional active devices are required to protect the battery cell from discharge.

    Abstract: A specialized wood splitting tool and chopping block, used together, enable cutting kindling from ordinary firewood in an effective and safe manner. The splitting tool uses leverage in addition to downward momentum of the cutting head to split wood. The metal handle and metal cutting head are preferably formed from a single piece of steel, in a perpendicular configuration similar to an adz. A splitting wedge blade within the handle exerts transverse shear forces to enhance splitting, and flat upper surfaces of the cutting head and the handle near the joint provide a striking surface. The chopping block provides resistance to the unique leverage of the splitting tool during the splitting action.
