Pivoted Handles Patents (Class 30/252)
  • Patent number: 11911923
Abstract: Ergonomic snips have a pair of pivoted levers each having a forward end formed as a cutting blade and a rearward end forming a hand portion. A first handgrip on one hand portion includes a first anti-slip ear suitable for engaging a user's thumb. A second handgrip on the other hand portion includes a second anti-slip ear to form a finger receiving portion to accommodate one or both of the index and middle fingers of a user to allow a user to either place the second anti-slip ear between the user's index and middle fingers to maximize torque or place the second anti-slip ear between said middle and ring fingers to provide greater cutting control or precision. The distances between a user's thumb and the user's index and middle fingers remain substantially the same in both positions of the hand.

  • Patent number: 7640667
Abstract: A pruner has a movable handle/blade assembly pivotally coupled to a static handle/blade assembly by a pivot assembly carried by the static handle. The pivot assembly further has a bush within the static handle and on which the movable handle/blade assembly is pivotally mounted, a spring for pivotally biasing the movable handle/blade assembly to an open position being retained by the pivot assembly within the static handle. Both the movable blade and static blade are mounted on the bush and are clamped laterally between two separate parts of the bush which are assembled together in screw threaded engagement, and the two blades are supported from the bush by a bearing ring of low friction material.

  • Patent number: 7640666
Abstract: A pair of gardening shears include two cutting blades pivotally connected with each other, two movable members each having a first side mounted on a respective cutting blade, two fixing members each mounted on a second side of a respective movable member, two locking bolts each extended through the fixing members, the movable members and the cutting blades, and two locking nuts each screwed onto a respective locking bolt. Thus, the cutting blades are limited by the fixing members and the locking bolts so that the cutting blades are juxtaposed to each other closely without producing a gap between the cutting blades, thereby facilitating a user operating the gardening shears.

  • Publication number: 20090277018
Abstract: A device for cutting sheet metal is disclosed. The device comprises of a cutting blade (13) which passes between two curved sharpened support blades (12 & 14) (“curved support blades”), the latter which curves away from the cutting blade (13). The cutting blade (13) and the curved support blades (12 & 14) each have two holes in them (henceforth referred to as upper and lower holes) which enable them to be connected together and to the handles (4 & 5). The handles (4 & 5) are long and similar to those commonly used in long handle pruning secateurs. Items (3 & 6) each have two holes in them (henceforth referred to as upper and lower holes) which enable them to be connected together and to the cutting blade (13) and the curved support blades (12 & 14). Items (3 & 6) are bolted together at their upper holes, and at the other ends they slot into the handles (4 & 5).

  • Publication number: 20090188118
Abstract: A tie wrap cutting tool has a press arm and a die arm, each arm having a tool end and an opposing handle. The arms are pivotally coupled together, such that relative movement of the handles produces a corresponding movement of the tool ends. A cutting insert is removably coupled to the tool end of the die arm, the cutting insert having a transverse guide slot configured for receiving a tie wrap to be cut. At least one cutter is carried by the cutting insert, the cutter having a selected geometric shape. A press face is formed in the press arm for forcing the tie wrap against the at least one cutter, so that selected movement of the handles causes the at least one cutter to cut the selected geometric shape in a tie wrap received in the slot.
