  • Patent number: 10736269
Abstract: A fruit picker includes first and second curved sections, a handle and a bag. The first and second curved sections are outwardly curved to form a leaf-shaped space therebetween. The first curved section and a second curved section are attached at a first end at a cutter angle. The handle is attached to the first and second curved sections at a second end. The bag is attached to the first and second curved sections with fixing elements. The leaf-shaped frame provides maneuverability of this tool within a cluster of fruit or tree branches, where an angled shape helps catching and holding fruit. The scissors-like tip offers efficiency in releasing fruit from its stem. Finally, this fruit picker boasts applicability to multiple kinds of fruit.

  • Patent number: 10695925
Abstract: A quilt binding cutting guide and a method for using it to cut and form low-bulk, angled seams for quilt bindings. The quilt binding generally has a first end and a second end. The cutting guide may comprise a quilt edge line, a right binding cutline, and a left binding cutline, the right binding cutline and the left binding cutline being spaced apart from, and parallel to, each other, and angled with respect to the quilt edge line. To use the guide, a user may position the cutting guide on top of a quilt so that the quilt edge line is directly above a raw edge of the quilt. The user may then use the guide lines on the cutting guide to position and cut the ends of a quilt binding accurately, without measuring or marking.

The guard can be a removable guard attachable to the knife using a fastener that also secures two halves of the knife handle together. The removable guard can include a work-engaging member with a slot through which the blade protrudes. The cutting depth, or the angle of the work-engaging member can be adjusted by providing in the guard a suitable slot through which the fastener extends. Different kinds of work-engaging members can be provided, including an insulation stripping guide, a guide having narrow ends aligned with the blade for visual guidance, and a guide having diverging sides for cutting flooring.

Abstract: A climbing skin offset cutter (100, 200) includes a main body (102, 202) defining an arm (104, 204) defining a first running surface (105, 205) configured to slidably engage a lateral edge of a ski, and a second running surface (115, 215) configured to slidably overlie a climbing skin during trimming. A support wall (106, 206) supports a blade (130, 230) that is angled inwardly such that the blade cutting edge is offset from the first running surface by 1 to 6 millimeters. The first running surface positions the blade cutting edge during use, and the second running surface holds the climbing skin against the ski. No portion of the offset cutter is disposed significantly between the ski and the climbing skin inboard from the offset cutting location.

  • Patent number: 8146469
Abstract: A container or pan for producing predetermined food portions is disclosed. Indicia are formed on the container at selected intervals adjacent an outer peripheral edge. A cutting blade is provided having a length substantially equivalent to a length, or a width, or a diameter of the container; or to a distance between a pair of cooperating indicia. The cutting blade is adapted to extend from the indicia on one side of the container to the indicia on another side of the container. The cutting member is placed in alignment with the respective indicia and then forced downwardly through the food. The indicia provide a guide to readily align the cutting blade for cutting the food into selected sized portions without having to measure and mark the food prior to cutting.

Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing floorboards with a surface layer and a core for making a floating flooring. The floorboards are mechanically lockable, and have pairs of opposing connectors along their edge portions for locking adjoining floorboards to each other both vertically and horizontally. The method includes joining a surface layer of flexible and resilient fibers to a wood-fiber-based core to form a floor element, and linearly displacing the floor element relative to a set of tools in order to machine the joint edges of the floor element to provide at least part of upper joint edges of the floorboard.

Abstract: A tool for slitting an elongate sheath from about an elongate member that is disposed within a longitudinally extending lumen of the sheath includes a longitudinally extending tail portion projecting rearward of a slitting edge and a nose portion of the tool; a lower surface of the nose portion is disposed beneath the slitting edge for engaging a portion of the elongate member. The tail portion of the tool, approximately aligned with the sheath lumen when the lower surface engages the elongate member and a leading edge of the nose portion is within the sheath lumen, is sized to fit within the sheath lumen after the sheath is slit by the slitting edge. A passageway between the nose portion and the tail portion allows a proximal segment of the elongate member to bend away from the tail portion when the elongate member is engaged by the nose portion.
