Abstract: The invention is directed to an outdoor device, preferably a string trimmer, having a hinged pole for folding the string trimmer. The hinge has an easy to use lock that allows for repeated folding of the trimmer for easy transport and storage. The string trimmer has a battery at a rear end of the pole near the handle, and a motor at a front end on the cutting head. An electrical cable is run from the battery to the motor to provide power to the motor. The hinge provides a protective sheath around the cable to protect it from damage when the string trimmer is folded and the cable might otherwise be exposed. Additionally, the string trimmer includes a guard around the cutting head that contacts a battery housing to secure the string trimmer in a folded position.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems, and/or methods for adjusting belt tension in a material removal machine are disclosed. In some examples, the material removal machine includes a material removal tool secured on a spindle. A spindle pulley may be secured to the spindle, such that rotation of the spindle pulley causes the material removal tool to be rotated via the spindle. The material removal machine may further include a movable hub that retains the spindle, such that movement of the hub translated into movement of the spindle. Because the spindle pulley is securely attached to the spindle, movement of the hub may translate into movement of the spindle pulley. This movement of the spindle pulley may change a distance between the spindle pulley and an actuator pulley, thereby changing the tension in a belt connecting the spindle pulley and the actuator pulley.

Abstract: A handheld work apparatus has a drive motor which drives a work tool rotationally via a belt drive. The belt drive has a first, driving pulley and a second, driven pulley. The second pulley is connected fixedly to the work tool so as to rotate therewith. The rotational speed of the second pulley is lower during operation than that of the first pulley. A brake unit acts on the belt drive. A first drive belt of a first stage and a second drive belt of a second stage act between the pulleys to transfer the drive torque. The belts each bring about a rotational speed reduction. The belt drive includes a redirection roll which bears against the belt, via which the highest drive torque is transmitted during operation. As a result, a braking operation of the work tool is enabled independently of the rotational speed of the tool.

Abstract: An extendable kitchen utensil operable to utilize a plurality of extendable and interchangeable culinary operational members. A culinary operational member includes a shank and an operational end constructed to perform culinary tasks. The extendable kitchen utensil includes a handle having a longitudinal channel and slot. The shank is configured to slidably traverse within the channel. A positioning member secured to the shank travels within the longitudinal slot in the handle to provide control of shank positioning. The handle and shank have formed connectors that mateably engage to provide defined securable positions for the shank. A support member that may also function as a bottle opener is connected to the handle and functions as a prop to improve sanitation. One specific embodiment of a culinary operational member is configured to mateably engage with one or more portions of internal wall sections of a conventional food jar to improve food removal.

Abstract: A pair of chopsticks is disclosed, the chopsticks consisting of an elongated body having a proximal end to be gripped by a user, and a distal end to be used for seizing a food portion. The chopsticks include a protruding element, such as a disc-shaped collar, extending radially outward from the chopstick elongated body. The protruding element is arranged closer to the eating distal end than to the gripping proximal end. Thus, when the chopsticks are set on a horizontal surface, the chopsticks rest on the proximal end and the protruding element, while the eating distal end remains elevated and separated from the surface, thereby preventing contamination of the eating distal end. The protruding element of each chopstick can be arranged at a different distance from its respective eating distal end, in order to minimize interference between the two protruding elements.

Abstract: An inventive device to aid mobility-limited users of gasoline-powered handheld tools while crank-starting of same is disclosed. In particular, the invention is a tethering device to prevent a tool such as a chainsaw from jumping or kicking back when crank-started by an operator with limited bodily mobility, particularly of the back, preventing placing of the tool on the ground for crank-starting. The inventive tethering device allows the operator to remain upright while safely cranking the on-board engine. The inventive device comprises an elongated tether member having first and second ends, a foot placement member for placement of the operator's foot to secure the device and restrain its movement, affixed to the first end and an attachment means for attaching the tether to a chainsaw, affixed to the second end of the elongated tether member.

Abstract: A utility knife employing a blade having multiple cutting edges, and a means for quickly and simply swapping out one cutting edge for another. In a preferred embodiment, a six-cutting-edge featured blade is employed. Each point of the six-cutting-edge featured blade features two distinct cutting edges, for a total of six cutting edges located on a single blade. The blade can be rotated about a central axis to expose new cutting edges as old edges wear and dull. In another embodiment, a single-edged blade featuring two cutting faces is housed in a knife handle. The blade can be flipped when the first edge is dull or worn to expose a second cutting face. The handle may optionally include a storage space for storing additional blades.

At the same time, knives in all the rows utilize the same space on a wall surface, which makes the knife holder compact. Abstract: The present application is directed to a knife locker and sanitizing system consisting of a unique combination of one or more knife storage lockers that can individually be locked with a pad lock by the person using that set of knives. The incorporation of a locking bar that is attached to the knife locker by the means of a locking fixture and having a separate padlock facilitates a means where by a knife maintenance employee can open all the locker doors at one time to service the knives. Adjacent to the knife lockers will be located a sanitizing chamber where the knife blades and handles along with other food processing implements can be immersed in a sanitizing liquid. An alternate embodiment of the sanitizing chamber will incorporate ultraviolet lights on either side of the unit for the sanitizing process, enabling the ultraviolet light to not only disinfect the implement blades, but also the handles.

Abstract: A device for cutting a thin material such as a foil, fabric, paper and condiment packet is disclosed. The device is particularly suited for persons who lack dexterity in their fingers or palms and have difficulty using scissors for cutting. The device comprises of an angled blade adapted for movement along an axis perpendicular to a plane defined by the material, and a straight stationary blade that together impart a shearing action onto the material. For safe operation, the device is encased in an enclosure having a slot for inserting the material.

The knife support is provided with a frame having a hole extending therein for receiving the blade of the knife. The support also has a spring for urging the second jaw against the first jaw to prevent a movement of the blade away from the hole by clamping the blade. The support also has a releasing mechanism preventing an action of the spring on the second jaw, thereby allowing the movement of the blade away from the hole.

The receptacle comprises a base having a base support surface and a base engaging surface. A wall member is secured to the base engaging surface extending substantially perpendicular from said base. A coupling member is secured to the wall member extending substantially parallel and above said base. An arm member is secured to the coupling member extending substantially parallel to the wall member and above the base. A slit is defined between the wall member and the arm member for receiving and maintaining the blade of the cutlery instrument in a static position. A slot is defined between the arm member and the base engaging surface for exposing the wall member.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus to facilitate the easy removal or release of a seatbelt or similar safety harness device during an emergency. The apparatus of the invention provides a practical and easy means of releasing a seatbelt or similar safety harness that is jammed or difficult to remove during an auto accident or other emergency. The apparatus is comprised of an Emergency Seatbelt Release (ESR) box which is attached to the seatbelt, preferably at or near the tongue connector of the seatbelt such that the seatbelt passes through the ESR box. The ESR box contains a sharp edged cutting instrument attached to a trigger handle contained in a compartment within the ESR box. The compartment containing the trigger handle has a protective quick access cover so that it will not be inadvertently pulled or snagged in non-emergency situations. When the protective cover is removed, the trigger handle becomes accessible with the aid of compression springs which extend and eject the trigger handle.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a magnetic knife stand which comprises one or more slits for inserting knives. On the upper inner side of each inserting slit, one or more magnets are disposed. A hole or a hollow is disposed on the upper inner side of each inserting holes, and the magnet is placed inside the hole or hollow on the upper inner side of the inserting slit. During and after the process of inserting the knives into the knife stand, the magnets will keep the cutting edges of the knives away from the bottom inner sides of the inserting slits, thereby effectively preventing the edges from becoming blunt, which is caused by their rubbing against the inserting slits. The frequency of sharpening the blades can be reduced and the lifespan of the knives can be extended. Further, this magnetic knife stand is more effective in protecting the knife stand from being cut or worn out by the knives. This invention enables the knives to be stored securely in the knife stand.

Abstract: A structure for fastening sword blade to scabbard includes two magnets having different polarities and imbedded in a blade and a scabbard of a sword, respectively. The magnet imbedded in the blade is flush with an outer surface of the blade near a cross guard of the sword, and the magnet imbedded in the scabbard is flush with an inner surface of the scabbard corresponding to the magnet on the blade. With these arrangements, the sword blade may be easily inserted into and magnetically held to the scabbard without the risk of unexpectedly moving out of the scabbard, and may be smoothly drawn out from the scabbard without the risk of being stuck to the scabbard.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a knife with a handle, a blade pivotally coupled to the handle, and a lanyard releasably coupled to the handle. The handle includes two panels that define a blade cavity for receiving a portion of the blade in an initial closed position. The knife further includes a pivotal blade locking arm and a pivotal lanyard locking arm. The blade is locked by selectively moving a portion of the blade locking arm into and out of a locking recess on the blade. The blade locking arm is an open frame. Preferably, the lanyard locking arm is disposed within the open frame of the blade locking arm. The lanyard locking arm can be moved to release the lanyard from the handle by squeezing the blade inward into the handle. The blade locking feature and the lanyard locking feature can be used alone or in combination.
