Apertured Blade Patents (Class 30/339)
  • Patent number: 8079395
Abstract: A quick change knife blade assembly, for use in conjunction with a tape roll dispensing cartridge assembly of a case sealing machine, comprises a knife blade mounted upon a knife blade mounting plate. A pin plate is fixedly connected to mounting pins passing through the knife blade, and springs are interposed between the pin plate and the mounting plate so as to normally bias the pin plate to a position at which the mounting pins prevent the removal of the knife blade from the mounting plate. When the pin plate is depressed against the biasing forces of the springs, the mounting pins are moved so as to permit the knife blade to be removed from the mounting plate.

  • Patent number: 7930829
Abstract: A compact utility knife includes a blade holder slidably connected to a handle. A trapezoidal utility blade detachably mounts to the blade holder via a blade lock mechanism. A slide lock mechanism selectively retains the blade holder in its extended or retracted position relative to the handle. When the blade holder is extended, the blade holder and a majority of the blade extend forwardly of a forwardmost point of the handle. Extending the blade holder significantly increases an overall length of the knife such that the knife is comfortable to use when in the extended position and longitudinally compact when in the retracted position. The knife includes a blade lock mechanism. An aperture in the front of the handle creates a gap between the blade and the handle to discourage debris on the blade from transferring to the handle when the blade is retracted.

Abstract: An electric-powered cutting machine includes: an electric motor, a housing for the electric motor; a plunger driven by the electric motor to reciprocate; and a blade holding mechanism. The blade holding mechanism holds a blade at a tip end portion of the plunger. The blade holding mechanism includes: a blade receiving face including a groove, a swinging member and a pressing member. The groove is shaped substantially the same as an attachment portion of the blade. The swinging member has one and other ends and pivoted at a swing fulcrum. The one end has a blade pressing portion capable of being disposed to oppose to the groove. The other end elongates to separate from the plunger. The pressing member presses the one end toward the groove.

  • Patent number: 7194809
Abstract: A knife blade having a cutting edge with a first end and a mounting edge opposite the cutting edge. Typically the first end will be a point, but other configurations are possible. In addition, the knife blade has a first attachment slot extending from the mounting edge toward the cutting edge and away from the first end. The first attachment slot may be tapered at a select taper angle. In addition, the first attachment slot may include a first segment extending from the mounting edge toward the cutting edge and a second segment extending from the first segment away from the first end. Similarly, a third segment of the first attachment slot may extend from the first segment toward the first end. In one embodiment, the first, second, and third segments form a substantially “T” shaped attachment slot. Preferably, the second and third segments of a “T” shaped attachment slot are tapered at a select taper angle from the junction with the first segment.
