Formed in the inner surface of the flat plate trimmer handle is a shallow recess within which is located a trimmer drive interconnecting the trimmer block and a main drive element for the shaving head in order to drive the trimmer block from the same source as the shaving head. The trimmer block includes a stationary blade and a movable blade which define therebetween a cutting plane in parallel relation to the plane of the trimmer handle. This arrangement is to reduce the dimension of the trimmer block and the thickness of the trimmer handle.

  • Patent number: 4835861
Abstract: An electric shaver wherein the motor housing carries a separable frame for confinement of the cutter and the frame carries a separable casing for an apertured foil which overlies the cutter in assembled condition of the shaver. The frame has a window which is adjacent one side of the cutter and serves for insertion of the casing so that the latter can be attached to or detached form the frame only when the frame is separated from the motor housing. The coupling between the frame and the casing has complementary male and female coupling elements which are designed to confine the casing to movements at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the motor housing. The latter carries a reciprocable slide for a trimmer which can be moved to several positions with reference to the apex of the foil but remains in the general plane of the slide.

  • Patent number: 4742617
Abstract: A scissors having first and second members movable with respect to one another to facilitate cutting and including a conventional handle as well as an obliquely oriented thumb loop. The thumb loop is oriented approximately 45 degrees downwardly and 45 degrees laterally with respect to the axis of the handle to which it is attached. The thumb loop also allows for flexible rotational movement of approximately 45 degrees and flexible vertical movement of approximately 45 degrees. The loop is held in position by a flexible connecting member having a flexible intermediate section to allow for the desired movement as well as allowing for return of the thumb loop to the steady state position upon release.

  • Patent number: 4649642
Abstract: A reduced thickness trimmer unit for electric shavers is mounted within and partly on a head casing. The unit has a frame, a stationary cutter on one end and a movable cutter which cooperates with the stationary cutter. The frame contains a resilient leg which extends interiorly thereof and within the plane thereof so as to resiliently support at its free end a coupling element for connection with the movable cutter. The coupling element engages with an eccentric cam carried on the driving shaft of the motor so that it is driven by the driving shaft to reciprocate relative to the frame within the plane of the frame as the resilient leg limits the coupling element to move in the reciprocating direction within the plane of the frame. The resilient leg and the coupling element combine to convert rotary motion of the driving shaft into reciprocatory motion of the movable cutter in the trimmer unit and are received within the thickness of the frame.

A movably mounted thumb loop means is included interconnected with respect to the handle of the second member by way of a ball and socket interconnection allowing free movement longitudinally along and perpendicularly around the axis of the second handle. Also, a tab means is included to limit the rotational movement of the thumb means about the ball within the socket itself. A telescoping slide means is biased into contact with a slot defined therein extending circumferentially around the handle means and across the neck of the ball when positioned within the socket to thereby secure the ball therein in a movable fashion as described above.
