  • Patent number: 8739412
Abstract: The utility knife blade is a blade for a utility knife having a slot formed in the blade that is especially useful when scoring drywall. The slot may engage a tape measure adjacent the tape hook so that the cutting edge at the scoring tip of the blade extends below the tape measure hook to engage the sheet of drywall. The slot extends through the cutting edge into the body of the blade at a slight angle relative to normal, preferably about 10°. The blade has a slot at each end so that the blade may be reversed when one end is dulled or broken. The blade has an otherwise standard configuration, typically having a trapezoidal body with a cutting edge extending along the longer parallel edge and a pair of notches in the shorter parallel edge for engaging knife holder retainer pins in the slidable utility knife holder carriage.

  • Patent number: 8161654
Abstract: A utility blade for use with conventional retractable and fixed blade utility knives comprising a blade body having a generally trapezoidal configuration defined by a cutting edge, an opposite back edge, a pair of opposing side edges and a pair of cutting points defined by the points of intersection between the side edges and the cutting edge. The blade further defines a pair of score lines, each proximate to one of the side edges. The score lines enable the user to remove a dulled or damaged cutting point, which in turn provides the user with two additional cutting points defined by the points of intersection between the score lines and the cutting edge. Further, the blade is configured with one or more notches strategically located on the back edge of the blade, such that each cutting point can extend from the utility knife at approximately the same distance.

  • Patent number: 7730621
Abstract: A shaving foil for a dry shaver has a plurality of perforation arranged in an array. The shaving foil is formed in its skin contact surface with a plurality of recesses which define a thin section of reduced thickness at the recesses, while leaving thick sections at the remainder of the foil. Each perforation is configured to have its circumference defined partly by the thin section and partly by the thick section. Both of the thin and thick sections can come into contact with a user's skin for smoothly guiding hairs into the perforations to make close shaving without irritating the skin, while the shaving foil is moved across the skin. Especially, the thin sections act to cut the hairs shorter than the thick section, as wall as to raise flattened hairs into the perforations for successfully cutting the flattened hairs.

Abstract: In accordance with the present invention, a plurality of circular shaped, slotted foils or cutting heads are simultaneously produced using electroforming production techniques followed by passage of each slotted foil or cutting head through either a single die or a progressive die to form the slotted foil or cutting head into the desired three-dimensional circular or annular shape required for a rotary shaver. Furthermore, in order to produce a slotted foil or cutting head which is extremely thin, to attain a close, comfortable shave, each of the fully formed slotted foils or cutting heads is passed through an insert molding operation, wherein a supporting rim or ring is affixed to the outer edge of the slotted foil or cutting head, thereby imparting rigidity or stiffness thereto. As a result, slotted foils or cutting head are able to be manufactured at a substantially reduced cost, and with precisely desired and controlled configurations.
