Abstract: A cutter operative to pierce and cut a sheet of material includes a handle and a body portion coupled to the handle. The body portion includes two puncture fingers having tips for piercing the sheet of material and two blades for cutting two parallel cuts in the sheet of material. in a method of installing a zipper on a sheet of material, left and right portions of a zipper are applied to a sheet of material. A swath portion of the sheet of material is cut having two parallel, spaced-apart cuts between the left and right portions of the zipper. In this manner, zipper installation is established in a manner that avoids formation of flap of material that would otherwise remain between the left and right flanges of the zipper.

Abstract: The present invention is a cutting apparatus for cutting and removing plastic material from a package as well as an apparatus for cutting boxes or tape. The cutting apparatus includes a main body having an applicator end and an opposite handle end. Within the main body is a slidable base having a piercing device with a sharp pointed end for piercing the material located on a first end. On an opposite second end is a cutting device for pulling and cutting the material. The cutting device has a hook-shaped tip and a cutting edge adjacent the hook-shaped tip. A device may be selected and extended through the applicator end by positioning a selector button to position the selected device adjacent a slotted opening in the applicator end. The cutting device and the piercing device are extended by sliding the base along a longitudinal track within the interior of the main body.

Abstract: A method and cutting device makes incisions in an elongated food product, like a hot dog or sausage, to form a pattern or character after the product is cooked. One form of the cutter includes a hinged housing into which the food product is positioned. The housing includes blades that contact and cut the food product as the housing is closed. Another form of the cutter includes a wheeled cutter and a rack. The wheeled cutter includes gear teeth that permit the rack to be drawn under the wheel as the wheel engages gear openings formed in the rack as the wheel rotates. A food product positioned on the rack is cut by blades on the wheel as the rack travels under the wheel.

Abstract: A rescue tool for use by emergency rescue personnel is claimed. The rescue tool contains a handle body having a first end and a second end. A serrated blade is pivotally coupled to the handle body. The handle body also receives and retains a spring-loaded center punch. The center punch is used to fracture the glass in the window of an automobile, while the saw blade is used to cut any plastic laminates that bind the fragments of glass together. The rescue tool also contains a hooked blade that can be used to cut a seat belt and a valve stem valve remover for flattening the tires of an automobile.

Abstract: A rotary tool for forming a blind-tapered hole in a workpiece includes an elongate shaft having a bit shank on one end and a base plate secured to the other end. A collar, mounted for axial movement on the shaft, is biased away from the base plate to a first position on the shaft by a return spring. At least two cutting blades are pivotally attached to the collar. A portion of the length of each cutting blade is fixedly circumferentially and radially supported relative to the shaft by a blade guide that rotates with the shaft such that the angle formed between each cutting blade and the shaft's rotational axis increases with increasing axial displacement of the collar on the shaft away from the first position.

Abstract: An emergency tool for use in breaking glass. The tool includes a handle member having an impact member slidingly carried within a channel therein. A spring is provided for advancing the impact member outwardly from the handle in order to break glass upon the impact member's contact therewith. A trigger lever is provided for compressing the spring and cocking the impact member such that upon activation of the trigger, the impact member advances forward for breaking glass. Also provided is a folding blade extendable from the handle, having a serrated edge for cutting seat belts, and a pry member for prying off objects. A spring actuated locking member is also provided for automatically locking the blade in an extended position.

Abstract: A new and improved hand-held seam notching apparatus includes two double-armed lever assemblies. A first double-armed lever assembly includes a first handle portion, a first fulcrum portion, and a first jaw portion. The first jaw portion includes a first well portion and a first cutter assembly received in the first well portion. The first jaw portion also includes a first connector for connecting the first cutter assembly to the first well portion. A second double-armed lever assembly includes a second handle portion, a second fulcrum portion, and a second jaw portion. The second jaw portion includes a second well portion and a second cutter assembly received in the second well portion. The second jaw portion also includes a second connector for connecting the second cutter assembly to the second well portion.

Abstract: A device for cutting and engaging a doughy material having a deformable consistency, forming a material, transferring the shape from a first location to a second location and disengaging the shape. The device includes a cutting edge carried by a housing for cutting an outline of the shape, a plunger for positively engaging a cut surface of the material to aid in transferring the material from a first location to a second location, recesses and raised shapes located on the plunger for imprinting an exposed surface of the material and aiding in engaging the material, and a handle connected to the plunger for manually actuating the device.

Abstract: A universal multi-function tool in the form of a painter's knife is provided in which the tool includes a slender pivoted, elongated element with a sharp tip for puncturing caulking tubes and an integral pusher bar specially adapted for contacting glazing points to serve as a glazing point setter for forcing the toothed portions of the glazing point into corresponding window and door frames. The tool is also provided with a paint can opener and both phillips head and flat head screwdrivers to permit storm window screw removal as well as light fixture plate removal. A knife is also provided for removal of the caulking tube tip, thereby eliminating the necessity of a razor knife, although a detachable razorblade holder is provided as an optional feature for cleaning windows. All of the tool elements are pivoted at respective ends of the tool, with the subject painter's knife providing no sharp objects protruding into the painter or his pocket.

Abstract: An emergency escape tool is proposed for escaping from a car when an accident happens. Scissors for cutting a seat belt and a spike are provided. The spike is held at and retractably protrudes from a handle of the scissors. A tip of the spike is pressed against a window glass. A spike driver is housed in the handle. The spike driver usually urges the spike in the protruding direction. When the spike pressed against the window is displaced inwardly, the spike driver accumulates a compression force corresponding to the displacement. According to the accumulated compression force, the spike is promptly pressed toward the protruding direction so as to break the window glass.

Abstract: A bottle opener for cutting open thermoplastic bottle caps is disclosed. The bottle opener includes a first arm having a proximal end and a distal end, the first arm including at least one transverse aperture. A second arm includes a proximal end and a distal end, the second arm mounting a cutting blade. The first and second arms are joined together at their respective proximal ends and are normally urged apart into an inoperative mode and when urged together into a cutting mode, the cutting blade is moved into a cutting position that traverses the aperture and cuts the top off of a bottle resting therein.

Abstract: A cutter for repeatedly cutting identical size pieces from a larger sheet of a semi-brittle and semi-rigid material includes an outer jaw affixed to a base and an inner jaw affixed to an arm that is resiliently connected to the base. The upper jaw includes a non-planar cutting edge that initiates the cut simultaneously at two locations located respectively on the right and left sides of the inner jaw and approximately midway between the front and rear of the inner jaw so as to produce a progressive scissors-like cutting action that proceeds simultaneously both forwardly and rearwardly from the aforesaid two locations and continues along the desired path.

Abstract: A perforation hand punch for coding cards has a coding field 31 in its male-female perforation arrangement having four columns and two rows. Accordingly, 4 punch pins may be distributed in a 8 punch pin positions 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 41 and 42 in a coded manner. Consequently more than 50 different person-related perforation coding can be provided which have 4 holes in each case as standard, so that the risk of forgery as a result of over-punching as in the case of mixed 2- and 4-hole coding is eliminated.

Abstract: A hand tool for opening the tapered plastic dispensing tip on material dispensing cartridges which includes first and second lever members pivotally interconnected at one end and each having a handle with finger receiving openings at the other end to enable operation of the tool with one hand, one lever member having a blade portion intermediate its ends formed with a plurality of openings of relatively different size corresponding to the external cross-section of the tapered tip at different locations therealong, and the other of the lever members having a sharpened blade adapted to shear off a portion of the tapered dispensing tip when it is inserted through one of the openings. A probe is provided on the tool adapted for insertion through the dispensing tip to rupture the seal in the cartridge.

Abstract: A band holder and cutter device is defined by a simple L-shaped surface wherein the main leg of the device includes a protruding sharpened, tacking element that can be driven through a strapping band to hold it in place on a packing crate, and the supporting leg of the device supplies a cutting edge to implement the severance and removal of excess banding material when the main leg and the sharpened tacking element are driven into place.

Abstract: This disclosure pertains to a caulking gun cartridge opening tool having a flat knife-like blade adapted with a spring mounting clip at one end thereof. A needle-like rod is pivotably secured at one end to the blade and is stored there-against when not in use. A sharpened edge of the blade is utilized to cut the plastic tip at the dispensing end of the cartridge. The needle-like rod may be used to pierce the plastic cap or to break through crusted layers of caulking material when rotated outwardly from the storage position thereof. The mounting clip facilitates storage of the apparatus on a caulking gun.
