Abstract: An electrical circuit arrangement for controlling a unit, such as an adjustment system for windows or a sliding sunroof, that is driven by a motor and is situated in a motor vehicle. The arrangement guarantees that, in the case of a short-circuit of circuit components, especially a control device operation of a motor is still possible, especially in a preferred direction of motor rotation, whereby the direction of rotation results in an opening of the unit and the short-circuit is caused by salt water for instance. Two circuit-breaker elements that operate the motor in either direction can be directly activated by an allocated circuit device which bypasses a failed control device. The remaining circuit-breaker element is blocked at least when the first circuit-breaker element is activated.

Abstract: A polarity reversal protective circuit for an electronic power output stage that can be driven via a drive circuit is described. In the case of an incorrect polarization of a supply voltage, power FETs are used in at least one supply terminal to interrupt a connection of the wrongly applied supply voltage to the drive circuit and the power output stage. A definite polarity reversal protection is obtained using a circuit that is improved with respect to cost and space requirement. The source terminal of the N-channel power FET is connected with the positive supply terminal. The gate terminal of the N-channel power FET is connected to a collector of a PNP transistor, which is additionally connected to an output of the drive circuit via a current-limiting resistor.
Abstract: The invention relates to a testable on-chip capacitor cell 10 including a decoupling capacitor (Ci) which can be disconnected from the power distribution network and discharged through a cell internal discharge circuit. An externally controllable switch (Si) connects in a first switching position the decoupling capacitor to the power supply system and disconnects in a second switching position the decoupling capacitor from the power supply system and connects it to a resistor (Ri) which is part of the discharge circuit. An off-chip control unit (16) is provided for toggling the switch with a frequency fT between its first and second position to perform a capacitor test operation. By a current measurement device the averaged power supply current demand of the decoupling capacitor is measured when switch (Si) is toggled. The actual capacity of the decoupling capacitor is determined as a function of the power supply voltage, of the switch toggling frequency (fT) and of the averaged power supply current measured.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a data protective receptacle with the power saving function to accomplish the power saving by getting a sub-receptacle to be automatically controlled so that it may be on or off by a main receptacle. Since this invention can get the power for driving peripheral appliances automatically to be off when the main power for the computer system gets to be off, it can reduce the consumption current thereof while it stands by. Also, this invention gets both alternating-current (AC) power lines to be off when the main system gets to be off, and thereby, it can cut off any leaking current flowing between one power line and the ground line so that the power consumption may be reduced while the system stands by.
Abstract: A touch switch apparatus for detecting the presence of an object such as a human appendage, the apparatus having a touch pad and a local control circuit connected to the touch pad and to a controlled device. The touch pad preferable includes a first electrode and a second electrode spaced from and surrounding the first electrode. The control circuit is preferably in integrated circuit form. A signal is provided to the touch pad to generate an electric field thereabout. Introduction of a stimulus near the touch pad disturbs the electric field. Abstract: A leak current is prevented from flowing during a power off state in a power supply unit having a remote power on/off function by using the momentary switch. In a state of power off, i.e. a state in which a switch SW2 is turned off, power is not applied to a latch circuit 30, and hence power is not consumed. A switch drive circuit 40 does not consume power. When a user depresses a momentary switch SW1 during a state that the switch SW2 is turned off, the switch drive circuit 40 turns the switch SW2 on. As a result, the latch circuit 30 can receive a drive voltage VCC from a node located down stream of the switch SW2, so that it can store or latch the turn on state of the momentary switch SW1. After that, when the user releases the momentary switch SW1, it returns to an original position and operation of the switch drive circuit 40 which turns the switch SW2 on is terminated.

Abstract: Systems and methods for diagnosing and treating tissue transmit an electrical energy pulse that temporarily stuns a zone of tissue, temporarily rendering it electrically unresponsive. The systems and methods sense an electrophysiological effect due to the transmitted pulse. The alteration of the electrophysiological property can be accomplished, for example, by tissue ablation or by the administration of medication. In a preferred implementation, radio frequency energy is used to both temporarily stun tissue and to ablate tissue through a common electrode.
