  • Patent number: 11611231
Abstract: An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system with stranded power recovery has a plurality of UPS modules with one or more of the UPS modules usable to provide stranded power to a recovered power bus. When a UPS module is used to provide stranded power to the recovered power bus, the AC/AC converter associated with that UPS module provides AC power that is synchronized with AC power being provided to the recovered power bus by each of the other AC/AC converters that are providing AC power. In this manner all of the AC/AC converters that are providing AC power to the recovered power bus have the same voltage, the same frequency, and are in phase.

  • Patent number: 11606111
Abstract: A body-worn hub may detect that a first battery charge level of a first battery in a body-worn device connected to the body-worn hub via a wired connection is at or below a first battery charge level threshold. Accordingly, the body-worn hub may route power from the body-worn hub to the body-worn device via the wired connection to charge the first battery when a second battery charge level of a second battery in the body-worn hub is above a second battery charge level threshold. However, in response to the first battery of the body-worn device being charged to a third battery charge level that is above the first battery charge level threshold or the second battery charge level dropping to the second battery charge level threshold, the body-worn hub may stop routing power to the body-worn device via the wired connection.

Abstract: Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and control methods are disclosed. The UPS can deliver power from a first source, such as AC grid power, under normal operating conditions and a from second source, such as batteries, if power from the first source is unavailable or unsuitable. The UPS can also allocate power to and among various connected loads and can supply supplemental power to a load if that load has surpassed its regular power allocation. For example, when the power output or demand from the loads exceeds the available incoming power from the first power source, supplemental power may be supplied from the second source. Abstract: As an example, a power supply may provide a particular voltage of multiple voltages based on a power profile provided by a universal serial bus Type C (USB-C) integrated circuit (IC) built-in to a USB-C port of a computing device. A power factor correction (PFC) converter may provide an output voltage that varies according to the power profile. The output voltage of the PFC converter may be used as an input to an inductor-inductor-capacitor (LLC) converter. The LLC converter may produce an output voltage that varies in voltage level proportionally to the PFC converter output voltage. The PFC converter may provide a voltage to the LLC converter that causes the LLC converter to provide an amount of voltage indicated in the power profile sent by the USB-C IC of the computing device.

Abstract: A power control circuit includes: a lithium-ion capacitor (LIC) charged by power supplied by a power source; a first protection circuit supplying, to a first load operating using power supplied by the external power source, a first discharge current of the LIC when the power is no longer supplied from the power source; and a second protection circuit supplying, to a second load operating using the power, a second discharge current of the LIC when the power is no longer supplied. The second load operates at a lower power consumption than the first load. The first protection circuit stops supplying the first discharge current to the first load when a voltage of the LIC becomes less than a first voltage. The second protection circuit stops supplying the second discharge current to the second load when the voltage becomes less than a second voltage being lower than the first voltage.

Abstract: Methods and devices optimize backup power management for network devices connected to backup power sources including two different batteries. Machine learning techniques are used to predict upcoming power outages affecting the network device based on power-related historic information and current conditions. A backup-power operation plan prescribing usage of the backup power sources during the predicted power outages is then generated. The backup-power operation plan schedules a battery among the backup power devices to be used at least twice without being recharged.
