With Separable Key As Operator Patents (Class 312/219)
  • Patent number: 4239309
Abstract: A file cabinet (10) is disclosed as having a drawer interlock (18) including a plurality of lock members (24) of a unique construction that is preferably unitary and injection molded from plastic. An interlock bar (22) on which the lock members are mounted is received by a plastic sleeve (27) on side panels (14, 28) of the cabinet with the lock members mounted in a vertically spaced relationship in association with drawers (12) of the cabinet, preferably with one such interlock bar at each side of the cabinet. A vertically elongated guide (38) of each lock member extends between vertically elongated slide flanges (32) of the plastic sleeve so as to support the interlock bar for translational movement in a vertical direction between lower and upper positions. Each lock member also including a pair of upwardly extending hooks (44) located laterally inward from the adjacent inner panel.

  • Patent number: 4235492
Abstract: A pair of parallel support members extend behind and perpendicularly to the dashboard of an automotive vehicle at the sides of the opening of the dashboard. Guide devices are provided on the sides of the unit housing of audio equipment and on the support members in cooperative engagement for slidably mounting the unit housing behind the dashboard. The dashboard has a hole formed therethrough in close proximity with the opening therethrough. A slot is formed through the top or bottom of the unit housing equidistant from the sides thereof intermediate the front and back of the unit housing. A pin is secured in the unit housing in operative proximity with the slot and is accessible via the slot. The pin and the slot are mutually perpendicular. A key-operated lock is mounted in the hole through the dashboard.

  • Patent number: 4202587
Abstract: A storage container in a piece of office furniture, such as a desk, is provided with a security lock which can be removed and replaced with another lock only by means of the original key for the lock. A releasable catch mechanism holds the lock housing firmly in a receiving well for the lock. Access to the catch is blocked by a covering member which can be moved away from its covering position only by movement of the lock mechanism with the original key. Thereupon, the catch can be released and the lock pulled out of its receiving well.

  • Patent number: 4186977
Abstract: Means and method for securing, in a predetermined location within a housing of a substantially stationary safe or the like and controlling access to the interior of, a portable currency or document depository having a slidable door that is normally locked closed. After insertion of the depository at said location, a barrier arm is rotated down to block removal of the depository and rotate a member into operative engagement with the door. A key irremovably carried by said arm is then insertable to unlock the door. The door is now opened by moving the member translationally one way, allowing access to the interior of the depository. The member must be moved the opposite way to close the door, and the door must be relocked by the key before the key can be withdrawn and the barrier arm rotated up to permit removal of the now relocked depository.

  • Patent number: 4168103
Abstract: A drawer-lock device that simultaneously locks multiple drawers from one activation point only, wherein the device can be actuated by a centrally located lock mechanism or by a lock mechanism located on either the side of a pedestal of a desk or of a cabinet. The lock device comprises an actuator member having an elongated rod which is operably connected at one or both ends to a crank arm, whereby the rotational movement of the connecting rod is transferred into a linear movement for the spring-loaded lever arm, the lever arm being interconnected to a vertically disposed lift bar, wherein the lift bar includes one or more locking tabs that are adjustable to correspond to each spring loaded keeper member mounted to the respective drawers thereof, wherein the locking tabs are positioned on the vertical lift bar for locking engagement with the keeper members.

  • Patent number: 4092056
Abstract: A locking system for a drawer file cabinet is disclosed. The system includes a locking assembly which is easily installed, removed and replaced without major effort and without major modification to the cabinet. This capability is provided through a novel arrangement of a cam plate pivotally connected to an insertable plunger lock, an internal support bracket uniquely adapted to receive and support and otherwise cooperate with the cam plate and plunger lock, and a reciprocating lock bar permanently mounted within a structural element of the cabinet. With the arrangement provided, only the cam plate and plunger lock are required to convert a cabinet incapable of being locked to a lockable cabinet.

  • Patent number: 4066308
Abstract: A cash drawer movably mounted in a housing between open and closed positions and yieldingly urged toward its open position by resilient rods adjustably mounted in the housing. A latch hook releasably holds the drawer in its closed position, and a power operated device is used alternatively with a manually operated mechanism to move the latch hook in a direction to release the drawer for opening movements. The manually operated mechanism includes a latch hook engaging portion for positively locking the latch hook against drawer releasing movement, when desired. Drawer supporting slide rails are tilted to a degree which provides for substantially constant velocity of opening movement of the drawer, and a yielding friction element engages the drawer to stop opening movement of the drawer at a given position of said opening movement.

  • Patent number: 4057307
Abstract: The specification discloses a locking system for locking a plurality of drawers or like components in desk pedestals or like components having a primary and secondary locking means movable between a first position unlocking said components and a second position locking said components, and an adjustable linkage operably connecting the primary locking means to the secondary locking means. The linkage system includes two rods adjustably connected to each other by a spring clip whereby the effective length of the linkage assembly can be varied and the first and second positions of the secondary locking means thereby adjusted. The spring clip engages a linkage rod so there is a bias force against the linkage rod preventing movement of the rod relative to the spring clip.

  • Patent number: 3976343
Abstract: A locking mechanism for drawers in an article of furniture includes a unitary lock transfer rod fully disposed within the furniture top and provided with a plurality of axially spaced crank portions. Only those crank portions associated with drawer columns are attached to individual vertical lock bars each having one or more resilient lock dogs thereon whereby, subsequent arcuate displacement of any one of the crank portions is translated as a concurrent displacement of all crank portions and the attached lock bars to move the lock dogs into and out of engagement with striker means carried by the drawers.

  • Patent number: 3936108
Abstract: A locking mechanism for file cabinet drawers having a receding front wall includes a vertically movable elongated rod with horizontally extending projections which is positioned adjacent the side walls of the drawers on one side of the file cabinet; a rotatable shaft supported beneath the bottom wall of each drawer and extending beyond the side walls of each drawer; and a locking member mounted on the shaft between each drawer side wall and the file cabinet casing. A camming surface on the locking member on the side of the cabinet adjacent the rod is engaged by the projection on the upwardly moving rod causing the shaft to rotate and thereby actuating both locking members into engagement with both sides of the receding drawer front wall. The locking member on the other side of the cabinet also engages a retainer element attached to the file cabinet casing.
